A: Black as night, but not completely opaque. Damn close though. Rocky mocha colored head with some bubbles on the surface. It fades eventually to a medium ring around the edges. Lacing is oily if at all present but this does not detract from the experience. Given the 9% ABV, this is somewhat expected. 4.5

S: Dark fruit (raisin, plum, fig), molasses, brown sugar, vague hint of roast, sweet milk chocolate and a bit of booze. The more I smell this, the more complex it becomes. This smells delicious and decadent! 4.5

T&M: Lots of flavor here. Deep, rich and velvety come to mind as words for how to describe this. Milk chocolate, but not overly milky, molasses, fig, plum, raisins. I'm not sure but possibly some dark cherry too. Carbonation is appropriate for the style, and body is medium thick, texture is silky smooth. 4.5 / 4.5

O: I wasn't expecting this to be so damn good in every sensory aspect. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and would actively seek it out again. This was received as an extra but can't for the life of me remember from who. Thank you to whoever it was. This is excellent! The only thing I'd change is perhaps a bit less dark fruit flavor and a bit more maltiness and roast. Otherwise, excellent! 4.5

12oz bottle (I think it says fresh by 1/14...so a little late if I am accurate) poured into a Bruery tulip.

A - Pours with an apparent thinnish body, super dark brown in color with a very short cap of foam that falls quickly leaving only a faint collar of tannish foam.

S - Super caramelly, lighter in the molasses end of the sugary spectrum, but definitely there. Lots of chocolate, lightly buttery/butterscotchy, a bit boozy.

T - Chocolatey - milky/creamy chocolate, toffee, molasses, a bit of ethanol, dry hoppy bitterness, lightly roasty, butterscotch.

M - Medium body with a light carbonation that shows little life. Plenty of toffee and caramelly flavors, neutrally roasty, milk chocolatey, a bit of tobacco, burnt sugar, brown sugar.

O - Overall, not bad but isn't really doing it for me. A bit too much sweet, sugary and not enough roastiness. Not that the beer is done poorly, but perhaps, just isn't my thing.

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a nonic pint, the beer is a jet black, slick and oil-like coloring with a halo of light tan head. Nose of rich date, molasses, and bittersweet baker's chocolate. Flavors are rich and roasted, with bitter chocolate and black strap molasses forward, with hints of smoke and charred wood character. Rich and perfectly balanced on a smooth, robust body. The aftertaste is richly sweet, with hints of smoke throughout. Slick finish, with a roasted linger. This is a fantastic beer!

Appearance: Opaque, dark, dark brown color with just a thin cap of tan head that fades quickly.

Aroma: Just a lot of roasted goodness - roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate.

Taste: Mildly sweet, with the roasted notes building - chocolate, chalky, a little nutty. A small bite of bitterness towards the finish along with a fair amount of carbonation livens up the tongue, then finishes with lingering chalky, roasted notes.

The Rest: Medium bodied, highly drinkable, balanced and well-hidden alcohol make this a great brew.

P: A black abyss capped with a full inch of frothy cappuccino head. Thick sexy garter lacing around the edge like hugging a succulent thigh coaxing you closer to the sweet treat that awaits you.

S: Bitter chocolate, almond butter, smoky wood, charred grains and burnt molasses.

T/M: Charred malts, stale coffee, bitter sweet chocolate covered berries, smoke, hints of cardboard, black pepper, black strap molasses and almond butter. Medium feel and vivacious.

O: I have chosen wisely for my first Baltic porter. Sweet, smoky, semi bitter and prickly on the tongue. I will have to grab a six of this next time in our. Cheers!

(A)When you pour this beer rite "I poured mine in a short tulip glass" it has about a half inch head. It will go away in about 20 seconds though. The beer is a rich black color that does not let light pass through.

(S) It has a crazy good smell that reminds me of strawberries, sassafras, and weak ass coffee.

(T) The taste delights me to no freaking end! It is like a sour beer with powerful notes of strawberry chocolate frappuccino LOL! Freaking incredible and so different! There is also that classic porter taste in the background that chills in your mouth and lets you know your drinking a dark beer. A flavor for the gods I assure you. Dont worry about the higher alcohol level in this beer. It is masked like a jello shot that only warms you once it is in the stomach.

(M) It is silky and wonderfully carbonated like a world class cream soda.

(O) I would buy this beer over and over again. It is one that is best enjoyed with the company of others. I don't normally rate beers; but this one has me wanting to shout reveries of its awesomeness from a mountain! Please try this beer so that you know im not crazy for my outlandish description.
