Thanks to Beerness for this one, shared with rudzud and threelions.

Small fizzy head fades almost instantly, dark murky molasses brown color. 4

Nose burnt molasses, caramel, dark toasted wheat, faint soy notes, dark fig and raisin, little biscuity toffee, little choc and cocoa notes. 4.25

Taste sweet syrupy candy, lots of toffee and butterscotch, biscuit, candy brittle. Then touches of raisin and fig, candied, some cocoa and a luscious creamy choc, nice rich candy. Faint booze, little syrupy, candied wheat and biscuit. Finish is drier, little booze warmth, mild bitterness, more choc and biscuit lingering, touch dark dried fruits. 4

Mouth is med bod, little syrupy, light carb, light feeling. 3.5

Overall decent. 4

A: Poured from a bottle to a mug. Had a brown color and a somewhat hazy consistency. There was an off white, foamy head that quickly dissipated. OK lacing.

S: A very subtle aroma of malt, chocolate, and fruit.

T: Tasted of a lot of malt, a nice amount of chocolate, and dark fruit (raisins, etc.). An incredibly balanced and flavorful beer. The addition of chocolate helps immeasurably. A good flavor.

M: A decent amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Quite a solid beer. Not classically like a dopplebock, but that's not a bad thing. Drinkable.

12oz bottle served into a Rastel tulip glass. No date on the bottle, but I'm guessing it's from this year.

Appearance: Very dark brown - mahogany - not a lot of color coming through, but a bit of a deep amber / ruby red when held up to the light. Cappuccino tan foam ring at the edge, barest skin across the top. Some islands of lacing.

Smell: Not a lot of aroma, maybe, just maybe, a hint of something fruity. I'm actually going to say it smells a bit like fresh prunes. This goes away after awhile and gets replaced with some roasted malts and a hint of toffee - the fruit is gone. Still faint though even after warming up.

Taste: Restrained and refined is how I would describe the flavor of this doppelbock. Lots of malt, with some grapes, raisins, roasted malt, toasted malt, hints of bittersweet chocolate, sweet breads (like a danish), and molasses. Some bitter and earthy hops at the finish. Somewhat like noble hops, but different when combined with the bitterness from the roasted malts. At no point with all these flavors does it smack you on the head with it - you get a little taste of everything.

Mouthfeel: Slick and smooth, lightly carbonated. A bit sticky on the teeth. Not as thick as I was expecting a doppelbock to be.

Overall / Drinkability: What a very interesting beer. i wish I had a bigger glass of it to work out all the flavors. Very drinkable - this went down quickly and then that higher ABV let me know it was there. I could easily see myself getting a 6 pack of this next time I can do so. It reminds me a bit of Ayinger Celebrator, but not as deep in flavor. The mouthfeel was a tad disappointing for this style, but otherwise a very good beer.
