This stout is poured from a normal tap but the body holds some nitro tap resemblance as the head was thick and creamy. The color was deep and radiant black.

The aromas are a bit chalky with some burnt embers and phenolic duct tape like scent.

The taste was a bit chalky also but the burnt ember and burnt toast flavors were overpowering enough to keep the chalkboard from ruining this.

The feel is smooth and there seems little carbonation. This stout is easy to drink but does lack the heavy fullness that one should.

Appearance: dark brown almost black in color with a 1" head that slowly falls.

Smell: roasted malts is all the nose can pick up.

Taste: roasted malt, dark chocolate, and a bit of coffee are the main flavor components. Bitterness is very mild here.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp to start, smooth and velvety at the finish. Short lasting aftertaste.

Overall: a mellow and easy quaffing stout. Low in alcohol, this is a good session beer if you are parked at the bar for a few hours.

On tap at Natty Greene's in Raleigh

Pours a deep, dark brownish black with 1/2" of brown head that has decent retention. The nose has notes of roasted malt and faint coffee. The flavor is roasted malt up front with hints of coffee and chocolate in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied though thin at times, moderately carbonated, dry, creamy, and rich.

This was a decent beer. Nothing too exciting to report, but it was enjoyable.

A: dark dark brown to black, with the thickest most delicious looking khaki/mocha head on top. No alcohol legs visible, a the beer recedes, it leaves slight lacing on the sides of the glass.

S:dark chocolate and roasted Malts form a really nice nose, smells really great

T: dark toasted and roasted malts, leave a bitter and dark chocolate and coffee flavors on your tongue, slight hop bitterness, the flavor are really nice, linger for a while.

M: the nitro tap is outstanding, so creamy and thick, but feels like a fluffy piece of cake in your mouth, the carbonation is amazing.

O: just a great stout, made even better by a nitro tap. Look into this one

Reviewed from notes. On tap at the brewpub.

Poured black without much of any head and certainly no staying power. The nose brought light amounts of coffee and roasted malt, but then there was a sourness that took hold and did not work. I don't know if this was a bad batch or if they were attempting to recreate the Guinness soured touch. Feel was fairly light and off. Overall, this just didn't work for me.

The beer appeared a nice dark cola color with a nice dark tan thick head that dissipated too quickly, but ultimately into a decent thin cap.

The aroma was a light sweet malted barley. Slight hint of coffee as well.

The taste was good, sweet malted barley and that hint of coffee noted in the smell as well.

Initially I felt that the beer felt to light, but after discovering that the beer was an Irish Dry Stout, the feel seemed to be consistent with others that I have tried. The beer was smooth, very easy to drink, slightly creamy and the carbonation felt right. Overall, this is a good beer and one that I would definitely drink again.

Had this on tap at the brewpub on 6/5/10. Came out a very dark black, with just wisps of ruby on the lower edges. Thick tan head. Great sticky lace. Scents of toasted malts, light coffee, dry husk. The mouth was creamy and smooth. Subtle carbonation noted. Dark chocolate abounds in this beer. Bitter black coffee dries the finish a bit. Slightly tart in spots.

Really good beer. I could have a pint of this anytime. Recommend.

Love it.
This is an excellent dry stout, and my favorite from this brewery. Typical low alcohol makes it a good session stout. Nice dry and creamy mouthfeel. Lovely dark malt character. Pleasing aroma with a hint of charcoal and coffee. Attractive head. Guinness, eat your heart out.

Enjoyed on tap at Natty Greene's

This is a tasty example of an Irish Dry Stout. It looked nice with a black body and a small but very creamy head. It tasted good and dry as a stout should with hints of roast coffee without any unexpected off flavors. A good no-frills stout.
