Tightly bubbled light tan one finger head atop a light brown body with some red shining through. Thin sheets of lacing down the glass after each sip but it doesn't hold for more than about ten seconds.

Rich roasted toffee nose that's a bit nutty. Almost like a hazelnut cup of joe.

Similar taste explodes on the tongue. Thin slightly watery body that leaves a heavy toasted nuts taste on the palate.

Good beer from a great brewpub but it could use a little more body.

[Suggested Glassware: Dimpled Mug]

The pour was a murky dark mahogany brown with an average (1-2 finger) light brown creamy head that was mostly diminishing, leaving behind a medium collar and fair runny lacing.

The aroma was rather mild of toasted dark malts and a light doughy yeast with hints of coffee and a bit of chocolate.

The taste was mildly malty sweet with just a touch of milk chocolate in the beginning, changing slightly to a mildly bitter roasty coffee presence at the end. The flavor lasted only a short time after the swallow, with the light roastiness fading quickly off the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was a few steps light of medium in body with a somewhat watery texture and a mild carbonation.

Overall as Brown Ale's go, I found this one to be a rather average representation of the style...

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a very dark, rich, toffee brown coloring with a thin, wispy, white surface coat of head. Aromas of nut sweetness, toast, toffee, and some chocolate highlights. Smells are subtle, but inviting. Flavors are roast and sweet forward, with a nut and toffee blend to follow, and a hint of coffee and chocolate bitterness into the aftertaste. Light, smooth bodied, with a subtle sweet linger on an otherwise clean, smooth finish. Tasty brew, and the lightness of body makes it very drinkable.

Poured from the bottle into my trusty Guinness pint glass.

A- Pours a gorgeous garnet red with a little bit of tan foam that does not stick around. No lacing to speak of.

S- Yeast, biscuit and pretzel. Lots of sweet malt. Just a hint of alcohol.

T- Tastes pretty much like it smells. Hard sourdough pretzel jumps out at me. Aftertaste is warm and malty.

M- Not as chewy as a stout without being watery.

O- Fantastic beer from a local brewery. I don't know how many of these I could drink in one session but I look forward to buying this one again.
