Pours a hazed orange color with a white head
Smells like apple pie, cinnamon, a bit of herb but pretty nice.
Taste is a cross between a chai tea and a hefeweizen with a fruit smoothie. Mild bitterness but nice herbal flavor. Medium bodied and well carbonated. Overall, a good brew!

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a hazy orange amber color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head has a decent level of retention fading to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is rather strong of a Belgian pale malt smell along with a good deal of a yeasty and spiced smell of coriander and clove. Along with these smells comes aromas of a grainy nature as well as a little bit of a green tea smell. A little bit of lemongrass and a lighter floral smell with some other smells of a more peppery nature are there as well rounding out the aroma nicely.

Taste – The taste begins with a crisp Belgian buiscuity pale malt taste that is a bit on the drier and more yeasty side in flavor. Some lighter orange flavors are present from the start with them getting stronger as the taste moves on. While the orange grows stronger, it is joined by some flavors of a banana taste as well as some of the spices that were detected in the nose. In the middle, the sweetness hits it peak with a decent showing of both banana and orange all mixed with a somewhat candied sugar taste that comes in quite quickly. The candied sugar fades rather fast however, and with the increase in spice and with some grassy and tea flavor as well as some lemongrass come to the tongue. In the end this mix of flavors ends up leaving one with a moderately dry and crisp but rather bananay and estery spiced flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is slightly higher. Both are quite nice for the saison style and make for a rather nice base for the spice, fruit, yeast and biscuit malt to rest upon.

Overall – A good saison that is quite easy to drink even at 7.1 % abv. It has a nice blend of spice, yeast, fruit and malt. Overall rather enjoyable.

Hazy light amber. Head is poor. Lingering bubble scuzz on top. No lacing.

Sharp peppery scent, light chai, spicy rye, saison yeast, turnip, faint lemongrass, orange, and a bit of coriander. Harmonious nose, but a tad trim for a farmhouse ale.

Flavor is bursting with lemongrass, green peppercorn, and spicy chai. Lemongrass and spiciness from the rye is leveling everything else. Yeast is half-farmhouse, half Belgian pale. Definitely has an Orval-like soapiness that is deliciously dry. Chai never gets in the way, nor does it do a whole lot for the flavor profile.

Riveting carbonation fires up your upper lip, late. Body is languid, if not a little oily. Simple, good, but not crafted.

I dig it. First Collab of PCBW.
