Poured from a tallboy can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Clear light golden pour. 2.5 fingers of fluffy white head. Great lacing.
S: Lemony citrus and toasted grains.
T/F: Follows the nose. Crackery malts/grains... slightly sweet. Citrus forward hops... light lemongrass and mild spice. Mild is pretty much the perfect descriptor for this beer. Clean and crisp... light and refreshing.
O: A solid American Blonde. Very drinkable with good flavor and no off tastes. One I'd have again, even if I'm not much of a Pirates fan.

It's a hockey night, no, it's the middle of summer, 2015. It's a Pittsburgh sports day for The CANQuest (tm)! I just finished Three Notch'd/Oskar Blues' Black & Goldings CANlaboration and now I am hitting an homage to the Pirates, who I am watching on teevee from Cincinnati. The label depicts a night at "NCBC Park" and the battery mates are NCBC's logo characters, approached by pitching coach Ray Searage with his Bucco back to us. Hee hee! This CAN, along with the next two, were gifted to me by a brewery rep at the end of FlavorPA, an annual event at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex which showcases PA CANsumables, from dairy to baked goods to F F & V to poultry, beef and all washed down with our beer. I (mostly) love being back in PA as a lifelong Pennsylvanian and U.S. Navy veteran!
From the CAN: "A Strike In the CAN!"; "Enjoy responsibly & Please Recycle".
Wahoo! The Crack! unleashed a spray and bubbling up and out of the vent like the dugouts emptying in today's Pirates/Reds game. This one was so full that it CANtinued to burble and bubble well after both teams returned to their respective dugouts. I CANducted an inverted Glug as a salute to my Buccos and this netted me two fingers of rocky, bone-white head with moderate retention. Give 'im the hook, Ray! Nose was lemony, grassy, biscuity and I thought of lemon-poppyseed muffins or lemon biscotti, both of which you CAN easily score in Da 'Burgh. Color was solid Gold (SRM = 5) and if you want to argue the point, you CAN, but this one was never going to be anything else in mine eyes. The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon and Croesus showed up for a taste, each with a Pirates cap on and holding a pennant. The Buccos may not win the pennant this year since the Cardinals refuse to die, but they are a solid team. This was a solid Blonde Ale with a very lemon-biscuit flavor in the mouth. I CAN easily envision filling my cooler with this beer when headed to the ballpark or when anticipating an afternoon mowing the backyard with KDKA-AM on the radio. Does anybody else hear Bob "Gunner" Prince talking about Roberto Clemente's throw home from right field to get the runner at Forbes Field right now? Finish was dry, but refreshing. Yum.
