Pours jet black, thin off white head of very fine carbonation retains exceptionally well.

The smell is weak, but smells smokey and a tad bitter.

The taste carries the smokey and bitter notes and is a bit malty.

Feel is moderate, mild carbonation throughout.

Okay stout, too short on taste to be great though. Looks good enough and feels fine, but the flavor profile is underwhelming.

Sampled on-tap at North Country, this Oatmeal Stout poured black with some thin ruby highlights and a thick creamy tan head that didn't easily recede. Nice thick walls of lace remain around the glass.

The aroma is like many of the North Country selections I've tried; quality but mellow. There is some roasty malt and bread-like undertones in there. Besides that, little else.

The flavor is again mellow with some subtle complexities. Some roasted malt and cereal graininess. A bit of milk chocolate is detectable.

Relatively thin for an oatmeal. Creamy but not heavy. I would like to see more body in this style of beer. Well put together, but nothing really sticks out as exceptional. Go for the Buck Snort Stout if it’s available.

Pours a dark cola like color with a thin off white tan colored head. There is a little lacing present. The aroma is of roasted malts and some nuttiness. The taste is of a roasted malt backbone with some nuttiness and oatmeal over tones. The mouthfeel is medium bodied. Overall it is a smooth drinkable beer, nothing harsh to upset the palet.

Stone House Stout has a dark brown that borders on black and is translucent only at the edges. The tan head is at least a finger tall, and is tightly bubbled. Looks like a nitro pour.

A muted roasted malt aroma with just a little bit of sweetness behind it. Smells like nitro-tap also.

It's strange that placing a beer on a nitrogen tap changes the aroma and the flavor of that beer, but it adds a little something in every single case. It also serves to mute flavors a little bit in my opinion. For these reasons I have no idea why someone would put an oatmeal stout on nitro; the oatmeal in this beer should provide enough body and smoothness on its own. I guess what I'm saying is that most beers don't belong on nitro, this one included. Up front I get a smooth roasted flavor that is dumbed down by the nitro. Behind that there are hints of other flavors, a bit of chocolate, maybe a bit of coffee, but everything seems a little weak and hard to pin down to me.

The mouthfeel is good. Big and creamy, but it feels like this beer would have body without the crutch of a nitro-tap. I guess I will never know.

Not a very potent tasting beer, but it's mild flavor and smooth body do make it one that is easy to drink.

A - dark with a bit of orange around the edges. Short tight tan head.

S - mild. Some smoke and roasted scent.

T - well grounded. Smoke, roasted barley, mild bitter in the after taste.

M - thinner than expected. No tingle or real coating.

D - easily drinkable, but it is not strong enough of a flavor to go for often. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Part of a 5oz sampler platter.

Black & opaque in color with the standard long lasting & ever clinging cream colored tight head, it was slightly bitter, perhaps wee burnt, muddy, uneven. This may be par for the course for oatmeals, I have not had a lot of exeperience with them.

The more I drank, the more a slow burn rose in taste, with a slight hopped finish on the swallow. I will revisit this one in the future to sample its obvious rawness again.

Pours a deep amber to black in color with a creamy light tan head. In the aroma, roasty malt and a hint of coffee. In the taste, roasted malt and a small nuttiness. A small bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry roasted malt in the aftertaste. More flavor than a Guinness, but pretty close to it.

This stout was just a little too smooth for my liking. Not enough good roasted stout character. It was very drinkable, but the nitro seemed to inhibit the full flavor of the beer. It had a nice black colour with a slightly off-white head. I would like to try it on cask sometime.

Came to the table in a standard pint glass jet black when held up to the light there was a noticeable ruby tint running thru it a large creamy cascading light mocha colored head from the notrogen disspensing atop.Aromas are a bit light with some roasty malt mainly and some burnt character.Flavore are lighter as well somewhat roasted and bitter with an iron-like taste to it as well even a tinge of leafy hop in the finish.A milder oatmeal stout the nitro pour gives it a creamy mouthfeel, not bad.
