Stout offering from our local (Slippery Rock) brewhouse. Poured from a 12 ounce can into my snifter. The true beauty of this beer is the appearance (and the price). 2 fingers of a rich mocha head over a pitch black body. Head retained really well. Aromas of dark malt, with hints of chocolate and coffee (amazing how they come through from the malts, even when no adjuncts are used)... quite rich aromas for a can. Taste not as pronounced... all of the associated tastes were there, though not in force. A bit of molasses on the end, and a balanced bitterness. Not bad taste-wise at all... but a bit watery. Smooth, though again a bit watery, on the mouthfeel. I support local, and as such, will continue to enjoy these on occasion. However, I will remain on the lookout for bigger, badder stouts.

My favorite offering that I had from North Country, came in a standard pint glass a a deep pitch black with a one finger sized roasted almond colored head.Heavily roasted malt, deep espresso roast aromas with some unsweetenend chocolate and a hint of mollasses as well. The flavors near intense in its roasted character and slightly burnt with a big dry earthy presence from a healthy dose of hops to round it out.Not a stout for the meak its roasted to the hilt and has big hops, personally I love it.

I love all the canned beer available from these smaller PA breweries, it's a good trend...I remember having this on tap at the source a few years back. The can pours pitch black bodied stout with just barely ruby highlights, big thicket of tan head forms thick dimpled cloudy texture speckled lacing scattered. Aroma roasted dark malts provide hints of dark chocolate/coffee, nice herbal mint notes that work well within the hop/malt combo. Medium bodied creamy texture with mellow carbonation. Easy to drink nice stout in a can.

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is a bit sweet, chocolatey. Taste is roasted malts, some hops, a hint of chocolate, surprising bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Part of a 5oz sample platter.

Stouts to me are like girls to a 12 year old - you know you should like them, but you're not sure why/how yet. I'm learning though, and this one could be that 1st crush you remember a long time.

This, surprisingly, was my 2nd choice of 7 samples this afternoon. Of course it had a wonderful color (orangish ebony, just almost opaque) with wonderfully tight cream colored head that clung tightly & long with lace. The nose was comforting - warm, deep oatmeal with a slight sweetness to it.

The most surprising (and enjoyable) aspect was what I called its "velvet bitterness". It has a great hop bite, but sooo smooth, very enjoyable. The throat eased up on the hops to a slight bitter with some caramel undertones to help it down.

This may have spoiled me for stouts in the future. Well worth trying & enjoying regularily.

Picked this up at my House of 1,000 beers for about $1.75. Into a pint glass.

A - Looks good a deep dark shade of brown almost black. Head is a nice tan shade with good lacing.
S - Smell is good chocolate malt, roasty goodness, and a herbal hint.
Y - Well most memorable is the best part is the balanced hops to malt ratio. Not overall sweet or roasty. Poundable.
M - Light to medium in body not watery or chewy .

Overall its a tasty stout easy to chug but I don't think I will get it again.
