I tried this on tap @Al's Pizza and Subs in Enola, served chilled in a pint.

The color is dark coffee color with thick creamy tan head. The smell is of roasted malt with a sweetness of caramel with light sweetened coffee-like aroma. The feel is good with a thick sweet body with medium carbonation and moderately roasted with low bitterness and no noticeable alcohol.

The taste is has a very malt and toasted grain dominance with only enough bitterness to balance with semi-sweet finish. This stout has a good flavor and is drinkable for the style but seems kind of generic as far as standard stouts go it is fine

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is a bit sweet, chocolatey. Taste is roasted malts, some hops, a hint of chocolate, surprising bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

I love all the canned beer available from these smaller PA breweries, it's a good trend...I remember having this on tap at the source a few years back. The can pours pitch black bodied stout with just barely ruby highlights, big thicket of tan head forms thick dimpled cloudy texture speckled lacing scattered. Aroma roasted dark malts provide hints of dark chocolate/coffee, nice herbal mint notes that work well within the hop/malt combo. Medium bodied creamy texture with mellow carbonation. Easy to drink nice stout in a can.

Can at reefer temp into a goblet
Aroma malty with chocolate overtones
Head average (3 cm), frothy, light brown, mostly lasting
Lacing good
Body dark brown, opaque
Flavor begins malty with a hint of bitter chocolate – no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Ends with a slightly bitter chocolatey aftertaste, short lived
Palate medium to full body, creamy, carbonation soft.

Actually a decent stout, around $33/case of 24 cans. I’ve had this on tap and the nitro version as well – my go-to beer at North Country

A: Pours a dark brown, not quite black. Small medium brown head. Decent retention but not a whole lot of lacing.

S: Hmph. Some piney hops with a toasty roasted malt character. Like mildly burnt toast. Get a whiff of a slightly metallic aroma sometimes.

T: Mild hoppiness up front. Mainly pine I would say. Touch of burnt sugar. More of that toasty sort of roasted malt. It's like overcooked pretzels and burnt toast. Hit of smoke in the finish too, just a little bit. Mild char lingers in the aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied, smooth with a bit of dryness in the finish due to the smoke and char.

O: Interesting stout. A little hoppy. A seemingly hybrid of toasted and roasted malts. Almost borderline between a brown ale and a stout as a result. Quite good but relatively simple.

On Tap at the Brewery
A - Nice complete black color, one finger of tan head, medium lacing.
S - Roasted malts, toasted grains, nice dark earthy undertones.
T - Burnt caramels, big roasted malt, a little of those dark earthy hops.
M - Watery, which isnt uncommon with other NC brews, but its also very dry.
O - This is definitely the best thing I've had at NCB, its a good stout, nice flavors and aromas that actually make this worth getting again.

UPDATE: 1-13-14
Can > Pint Glass
A - Pitch black with two fingers of a dark rich brown foamy head, Thick tight lacing
S - Toasted malt and a little grainy, some roasted squash? A little pine, dried leaves.
T - A lot more burnt flavor that from what I remember previously, burnt coffee beans, caramels, there's a considerable earthy hop bite, and definitely some spicy rye.
M - Not as creamy and smooth as you'd want for a stout, more dry and bitter.
O - Still is good, the only thing I changed was my score on smell, down 2.5

Pours dark as night. Nice lacing, not much head.

Some coffee, some molasses, roasty malts without much char or bitterness. Solid stout nose with smooth grains evolving.

Coffee and cocoa forward with slight smokiness and earthy hop bitterness. Nice smooth maltiness and easy finish. Well put-together.

Smooth, has a krinkle of carb, and easy drinking. Good stuff.

A- Comes out pitch black with a very nice slit darker color or tan head, looks very appealing in a glass.
S- When I smell this I get an aroma of some coffeeish with a little hint of some chocolate. What a stout should taste like.
T- Very smooth with rich coffee and chocolate taste very good for a stout.
M- Smooth while in the mouth then goes down very well. Leaves a very good taste on your tongue that leaves you wanting another drink.
D- One of my favorite stouts, neck and neck with Guinness foreign extra. Cant wait till they start to can this stout, I will definitely be getting a couple.
