I hit up North Country Brewing on the recommendation of BA members when I was in PA this past August. It was a wonderful experience. Other reviewers have summed up this place very well, so I'll touch on the highlights.

Atmosphere - fantastic. Rustic, curious wood is everywhere. It looks rather treehouse-ish and hand crafted (and is.) It's unique without being kitchsy and fascinating without being over the top. A welcome and cozy "warm" place with interesting nooks and crannies everywhere. Wonderful.

Food - quite solid. The wings were massive and crispy-hot, fresh from the kitchen. I had a fine ratatouille baked inside an eggplant and my family enjoyed their soup and salad. While not superb, it was all quite above average for pub food.

Service -- a hair shy of outstanding. Our server was fairly new, but he was most accommodating and quick on his feet. Dishes were served quickly and mistakes rectified immediately. No real complaints. Wish I could remember his name as he was a friendly guy.

Ah yes, the beer! It runs the gamut from okay to delicious. Think BA scores of 3.3 - 4.4 or thereabouts. I tried the sampler which is the way to go for newcomers. There was a surprising cask ale (apparently they keep a cask on hand at all times with a rotating selection) and while it wasn't my favorite I was quite glad to see it there. None of the beer was off and all was served at a fine temp.

Bottom line is, I loved this place and will happily go again next year during my annual Pennsic trip. If you love beer and get near Slippery Rock, North Country is a must-stop. May their beer never run short!

Unbelievable little hole in the wall place... it's worth the stop.

North Country Brewing. Made the 45 min trip to the brewery last weekend, the atmosphere is great, eclectic, and rather large inside. Food was outstanding we had the BBQ bacon buffalo burger, it was outstanding. The brew a bit disappointing seemed a little weak and watered- down for my taste.

Great establishment. Helpful and friendly staff. Quality food from [mostly] local ingredients with many options for omnivores and herbivores alike. The beer is great too, and all their own brews. Just don't get too attached to a specific one because they change what's on tap fairly regularly.
