Had been flirting with buying this because I like Browns, and finally found it at an irresistable price ($5.50). I had seen it previously for up to $10.
Poured from the 22 oz. bomber into a Tree House tulip.
a: Almost black with clear ruby throughout when seen through light. Finger thick tan yead receded to thick even surface foam and dense lacing.
t: Caramel malt forward with strength, followed by a moderate hop bite. Bitterness lingers at the sides of the tongue. Sweet to dry finish. Later some dark fruit notes
m; Medium with good body, lots of carbonation tingle.
o; Not a favorite version of IPA for many Americans, but this is a wonderful one for those of us who like English styles like Brown Ale jazzed up a bit. Somewhat similar to Shipyard's XXXX (D)IPA, also a favorite, although darker in color and with more fruit notes.

a. Brown in color with a 3 finger cream colored head.
s. Hoppy and Malty on the nose.
t. Although I like this beer, it seemed that the balance was off. There was not enough hoppiness to call it a true IPA, but this was more hoppy than most browns. Malt on the front and brown
m. Mouthfeel was good, nothing special.
o. A very good beer that should have bent more hoppy. I would drink this beer again.
