22 ounce bottle - $5.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Enjoy By: 08/15/2014

Appearance: Pours an orange-gold body, a little hazy, with a smallish, frothy, near white head. Near nil lacing.

Smell: Modestly aromatic pale maltiness leaning towards a toasted biscuit scent. It's chiefly citrusy, spicy notes, with a clear delineation between the hops and addition of grapefruit rinds.

Taste: Pale malts, a little biscuity, with a glaze of golden syrup. Citrusy, minutely resiny hops given a juicy, fruity boost from the grapefruit peelings. Medium bitterness. A slight citric edge on the back half. Bittersweet, fruity finish with some final nibbles of day-old, toasted biscuits.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: This day just keeps getting better. A tasty, enjoyable brew, one of those were you go to pour some more from the bottle, but, that tears it, it's already all gone!

Pours into an imperial nonic a dull copper color with a thinner white head that is gone pretty quickly.A godd shot of grapefruit in the nose but after that fades only light biscuit malts show thru.Low carbonation makes a nice mellow feel.Caramel and sweetish bready malts with leafy/herbal hops throughout,a decent smack of citrusy hops in the finish. Some good hops but not earth shattering but you know it probably isn't meant to be.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Golden amber color with a thin off white head the lingered for a while. Mild lacing on the glass.

Smell: Citrus and hops with mild pine notes.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of bitter hops and pine with a mild hint of citrus notes.

Overall: Okay brew, glad I tried it out.

Golden straw colored with apricot hues. Beige-orange half inch high head settles out slowly. Aroma of fruity hops and chives. Rich flavors of bready malt and sharp zesty hops, mix of citrus and cinnamon spice. Well-balanced, not crazy hoppy, but medium bitterness offsets the malt. Even mouthfeel. Really good beer.

This was purchased at the Smoker Friendly on Wheeling Island, you have to check for excessive dust and best by dates when shopping there. This good until August. Poured into my IPA glass a deep orange body with a slightly off white beige head. Aroma is full of a pleasant grapefruit peel/pith, and some extra dankness herbal/marijuana like nose. Pretty much a one dimensional aroma, but a really good smelling consistent one. Flavor super bright citrus, caramelized malts in the back end to provide enough sweetness to counter balance the bitter grapefruit pith/peel additions and supposedly loads of Citra hops. I'm not saying there aren't loads of Citra hops here, but they are hard to pick out amongst the big bitter grapefruit pith notes. Caramelized malts sugars creep in to balance things out, there's nothing wrong with this beer. Mouthfeel is medium bodied mild resinous oils from both the hop additions and grapefruit peels, even flowing carbonation nice dry finish. Overall, impressive offering especially from Harpoon's 100 Barrel Series #50, this has been a hit or miss big bottled series from Harpoon this one is way more hit than miss.

22oz bottle served in a miniature tumbler. Beer is pale in color, not quite clear, with medium head. Big citrusy and tropical aroma. Flavor is extremely crisp, like biting into a fresh, juicy grapefruit, though neither sour nor sweet. I'd say this is a perfect IPA for showcasing Citra's versatility across styles and grain profiles -- but wait -- this is a pale ale, not an IPA! At 45 IBUs it's on the hoppy end of pale ale, but then again at 5.8% ABV it is (or once would have been) at the heavy end of "sessionable" ale. Ah, we live at a good time to be drinking beer. Probably the best of the 100 barrell series in recent times.

Bottle. Enjoy by 8/15/14 date.

A: Translucent, deep amber color with an orange hue. Off white head with a nice amount of lace that. Appears slightly oily. Moderate amount of carbonation.

S: Definitely citra. Tropical fruits. Mango. Grapefruit and pine as well.

T: Does not follow the nose as much, as was hoping for a bit more of the tropical fruit notes from the citra hops.

M: Moderately carbonated, and medium bodied.

D: Very drinkable pale ale. One of the better pale ales I have had, and wish this was part of their regular release, as I would buy again. Citra is showcased well, but falls just a tad flat on flavor. That being said, very solid pale ale!

Nice golden color with a solid head. Hops smell extremely fresh and plentiful! Taste is good, but Citra is not my favorite hop on the planet. I wish the beer was a little thicker, it feels kind of light, but considering it is 80 degrees outside right now I find this pretty darn refreshing.

Overall, I really like this beer. It is a solid pale ale that is not trying to be a "light IPA".

From a bottle stamped Best By 08/15/14. Sampled on June 15, 2014. Happy Father's Day!

The color is orange-amber to bronze with good clarity and a robust cream colored head. Busy carbonation.

Since they are highlighting Citra hops in the labeling you can't help but to get that grapefruit sensation on the nose that usually accompanies this variety of hops. Pale malts are subdued.

Medium body.

Invariably, the grapefruit takes over the taste as well as well as the finish, which is moderately bitter and lingering. A nice offering from Harpoon.
