Pours a rich coppery-red color. Head weak with subsequent little lace.
An earthy malty-straw aroma overwhelms a citrus hop background.
Taste is a refreshing balance of malt and hops with hints of citrus. The straw aroma is manifested in a lingering bitter taste that is underwhelming but, again, refreshing. This beer is analogous to what one might think of as a "seltzer" IPA; for an IPA, it is weak on hops indeed, but the "refreshing balance" between hop and malt flavor leaves one wanting.
Mild viscosity for an IPA, the drinkibility is superb. This is an excellent Friday afternoon beer for transition between work and weekend.

Pint on draft aboard the Cross Sound Ferry, headed from Orient, N.Y. to New London, Conn.
Appearance: Pours a clear copper with a short white head. Carbonation is moderate to low. Leaves some pretty good lacing on the way down.
Aroma: The aromas are kind of subdued for an IPA, but I get a sense of hops, grapefruit, lemon and citrus.
Taste: The taste follows the nose - a bitter grapefruit taste followed by a somewhat piny finish.
Mouthfeel: This beer has a nice depth for an easy, summery IPA.
Overall: This is a pretty decent standard IPA. I don't want to describe it as "entry level" but it's a solid IPA for folks who don't do IPAs with heavy frequency. It's not a hop bomb or an especially complex beer, but it's nice for what it is.
