Poured into a Dogfish signature snifter. Bottleneck says Enjoy By: 12/15/13.

A- Pours a clean medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a thick ring behind on the glass.

S- Unique hop aroma that's spicy and a bit earthy. A little bit of alcohol comes into play as the malts play off the zesty (but not citrusy) hops.

T- Very balanced for an IPA as the bitterness is very tame and the malt creates a nice balance making for a high drinkability. The hops that are there are pretty earthy and the malt is lightly toasty.

M- Moist and a tad oily. Medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- This was the first IPA I had (besides DFH's 60 and 90) where I realized "Hey, I like IPAs." Not very surprising since it's such a subtle version of the style. Recommended for people who aren't that into hops but would like some bitterness in their beer.

Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head Ale glass. Best before Dec 15th 2013.

A truly great looking beer out of the bottle. Soapy sudsy and and even big tall three finger head, that clumps and stays forever. Virtually all the bubbles are uniform, and it sits on a great crystal clear copper amber body, with really nice flowing carbonation..

Nose is interesting, a little pine, some woody tones kind of a juicy citrus orange angle a bit. Not getting the suggested floral senses the bottle mentions. Some nice small cinnamon warmth and carmel too. This is actually quite good, this feels really promising.

Palate sort of lets down. Geez what happened? Slightly wet caramel body, and wood malts combine on first sip. Thin palate gives a slight earthy finish but doesn't last. Bitterness and sweetness is nowhere to be found, perhaps a hinting herbality somewhat but really struggling to find a flavor profile on here.

This isn't an old IPA, but this really seemed to start off with such promise. This is a letdown unfortunately for me.

On tap at Bertucci's Italian Restaurant in Marlborough, MA.

A: Kind of a dark orange color with a finger of white head.

S: Hoppy with a citrus smell as well. Kind of sweet.

T: Not very bitter. Very mild hop flavor. A lot of citrus in there.

M: Has a good crisp feel. Not the usual bite I get from an IPA.

O: Definitely not my favorite IPA but not bad. Seems like this is the only IPA on tap around this area of MA. I would say that this beer is very average.
