Notes/Commercial Description:
UFO Pale Ale is our twist on a traditional British Pale Ale. It pours a vibrant amber color with a medium malt body and an assertive hop character throughout. This beer is well balanced, with grassy, flowery hop flavors and aromatics. Like the rest of our UFO beers we leave it Unfiltered for more natural taste, a soft, full mouthfeel, and a distinctive cloudy appearance. UFO Pale Ale is perfect for an autumn's evening, a night out or just a change of pace. We hope you enjoy drinking it as much as we enjoy brewing it! Cheers!

Pours a nice cloudy, unfiltered copper. Head is chunky with very nice lacing. Smell is a light combination of malts and light hops. Taste is a very nice balance of hops and malt...with a nice lightly bitter hop finish. Mouthfeel is slighlty chewy with the malt backbone present..very nice. Easy on the drinkability scale. Definitely an above average brew.

A good session beer. Hazy orange color, surprisingly small white head, pretty good amount of lacing. Sweet malt and citrus hop aroma, a little faint. Sweet malt and grapefruit taste, also a little faint. A little thin in the mouth. This was a beer to kick back and have 3 or 4 of, and not do any heavy thinking.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. There is no noticeable freshness date on the label.

Appearance: On top sits a good two finger head made from an aggressive pour. Under the head is a warm cloudy amber colored brew. As I drink it makes some slick lacing on the glass.

Smell: The aroma has a nice bready and yeast like character with a light fruity estery note. Hops are light for the style but they also add a little fruity citrus and floral character.

Taste/Palate: There is a simple but nice medium bodied mix of sweet bready malt and yeast with slight hints of hops and fruity esters. The hops pop out a little more deep into the slow finish. Its texture is smooth with mellow yet active carbonation.

Notes: This is a nice easy drinking and average pale ale.

12oz brown bottle with a "best by" date.

I opted to no pour in the yeast at first to view the clarity, only a slight chill haze on the golden brew. Health lather of lacing on the glass. Fruity, citric rind, cotton candy, nutty yeast, rose water all make up the nose. A little bitter, crisp biting carbonation helps that along. Dry maltiness for the most part with a quick departure of cake like sweetness, yeasty with a very faint breath of alcoholic ester. Orangey citric peel and some dry grassy grain in the finish.

A decent beer to be had here, very easy to drink ... could be of the "Extra Pale Ale" kind aka golden ale but now I am splitting hairs.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy amber color with a small white head with nice Lcaing. Nose is wheat and off putting.

Taste is sharp and wheat. Its like a hoppy wheat beer but it's not well done. It's pretty easy drinking but it's got an odd and unpleasant off taste.

A: Hazy, medium amber color. Slightly off white two finger head.

S: Prickly, citrus from the hops. Definitely a strong presence of orange peel and grass. Other spicy hints, clove perhaps?

T: Not nearly as hoppy as the smell might suggest. I was expecting moderate hops, but this is one of the more malt/wheat focused pale ales I've had. Very drinkable, a little sweetness upfront and a smooth finish with a hint of hop bitterness that fades quickly.

M: Nice feel. Moderate texture with fairly high carbonation.

D: Easy to drink, but at 34 ibu's what did you expect. This is a fairly sessionable beer.

Nicely balanced, a refreshing take on the pale ale. If it weren't for the unfiltered aspect, this would be a run of the mill pale ale, but the extra complexity gained from its UFO status really lets it stand out from the crowd. This is a beer that just about everyone can enjoy.

Appears a clouded orange golden hue with a bright white brilliant head with evenly strung lacing. Aroma has pale biscuit malt sweetness with a nice earthy citrus hop kiss. A bit of welcoming yeast cake bready notes. Mango and tropical fruit slight pineapple juiciness in the finish as well. Flavor has a nice soothing herbal tea like hop notes with citrus and floral qualities amongst the biscuit malts and bready unfiltered yeast aspects, this is a nice session brew. Light bodied moderate carbonation very mellow smooth slightly dry finish with powdered yeast tones and hop oils coating the palate. Drinkability is solid I need a sixer of this stuff, it's in the variety but I could easily enjoy more than two of these while watching the Steelers this weekend.

12 oz poured into pint glass.

A- Pours a cloudy amber color with a two-finger fluffy white head.

S- Aroma has a nice biscuit malt and citrus and pine hops.

T- Very hop forward, slight bitterness, subtle malt in the finish.

M- Medium to light with good carbonation.

D- On it's own, a good beer, easy to drink and enjoy. To be a stickler, seems hops dominate a bit too much for a pale ale (I'm a hophead, so I'm not complaining) without the malt balance.

A lively golden color with a crystal white head, slow dissipation .

wheatie malt scent, crisp dry malt aroma slight banana fruitiness and citric hop in a very subtle way.

The flavor is a crispy malt, wheat, not sweet but all in good balance with a nice assertive citric and green hop flavor, this one screams session brew. The feel is very lively especially at first, mellows a bit if it sits too long but otherwise it's a light to medium crisp malt feel, really gone finish.

Grand easy drinking indeed.

nice faded foggy orange/amber with nice head and some micro-thin lacing. nice heavy duty diehard oily hoppy grapefruity nose which carries over well into the taste. that hopbomp camphor oil slick just spreads out and finishes rather undry but wet and sweet. for a second. very nice. interesting that this captures the essence of a very hoppy brew that might scare many off, but give it to your malty friends. it has all the blast but none of the bitterness many don't find appealing in hopped up brews. the mouthfeel is balanced well with the taste, a bit sparkly and brisk, but still smooth to the touch. highly drinkable. a year-round session brew that would be nice to slalom with the UFO hefe...

It's not really pale. It's a bit dark for a pale ale, and being part of Harpoon's UFO series, it's cloudy (which is fine with me). The head is about a finger thick with little retention.

Smells of classic Pacific Northwest pale ale with grapefruit and pine. I'll never grow tired of the smell.

Tastes like it smells, only a bit harsher. The citrus and pine is obvious, but there's an earthy woody flavor as well.

It's not a smooth beer. The flavors are assertive and the transitions between them are abrupt. It's a 'strong' beer in that it's not exactly easy to drink. There's just nothing smooth about it.

It's got some pros and some cons. It's smells great and the flavors are there. But it's a bit harsh and rough around the edges.

The best thing about this beer is its appearance. Cloudy orange with a large white head and good retention. The rest of the beer is about as average as beers comes. Nothing in the aroma or taste really stands out. Just faint hints of citrus. Bitterness is low. This beer needs more of just about everything. The body is also non-impressive. Feels quite thin. This reminds me of a BMC beer with its ease of drinkability. But that is not necessarly a good thing. My first beer from Harppoon. It did not really instill a desire to try more of their offerings.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours medium amber with light white foam. Some residual around the rim. Fruity smell, some bubblegum. Light malt taste. Buried fruitiness. Strong carbonation. Minty bitter close. Pretty good pale.

Overall good beer, not overly powerful, but not too weak either.
