Decent attempt at a black and tan. Had one at the release, then wasn't eager for another.
Appearance was clear, nice frothy head at first but died off fairly quickly. Smooth, easy to drink, just lacking anything special here. Malty aroma, piney hop. Hop taste was pleasant, nice balance.

Cold 22oz served in tumbler glass. Beer pours a deep, dark red color topped with a nice thick tan head. Giant soda-like bubbles throughout. Smells like a middle of the road amber ale, with a faint whiff of yeast. Flavor combines the amber malt body with relatively aggressive hopping for the style. It's even a tiny bit citrusy. While the flavor in the front of the mouth is not particularly sweet, bitterness really comes through in the middle. I'd say the stout portion is a little bit Earthy, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it smokey. Drinkable but forgetable.

Pours a clear dark brown color with with a huge fluffy off white head that seems to last forever. Smells lightly roasty with caramel, brown sugar, and an earthy mineral aroma. The flavor mimics the aroma quite well. Earthy, sulfur, dark sugar, chocolate, hints of fruit and a bit of roast. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. I can't figure this one out, is it a weak stout, a roasty English pale ale? It does neither very well. Mediocre beer at best.
