Pours a hazy, dark straw color with orange throughout, like looking down a fog-shrouded street but with bubbles. The white head develops so much and so quickly, you would swear it was alive and trying to get out of the glass NOW! No lace.
Smell is a well balanced mix of grass, must, hops, malt and some spices.
Taste is great with malt, hops, grass, spices, a hint of green apple and pear. Great balance.
Medium + body with tingly effervescence. Warming, but with a dry finish. Spices linger nicely in the after with the hops for a really amazing flavor that drives you to the next sip. Good stuff, Maynard.

22oz glass served in pint glass. I get a big skunk lagery aroma out of this, surprisingly. Beer itself is straw yellow in color, with substantial haze and big soda bubbles. Giant white head. And yeah, pilsner/lager aroma.
Flavor is spicy, dry, and crisp. Very neutral through the finish. The peppercorn flavor up front brings out some bitterness in the hops -- at 34 IBU the hops are definitely not showcased here. Besides the spiciness there's a subtler note of yeast, to give it some earthiness. The mouthfeel is pretty thin. It kinda looks and feels like ginger ale. And the carbonation brings an intensity to the drink that's completely absent in the flavor (again, like a lager). All in all it makes for an interesting experience but it's not my favorite.

While I am not a fan of most saison's other than those from Belgium I will admit that this is one fantastic ale. Beer pours a rich cloudy yellowish-amber with a thick white head that dies down to a nice lacing foam. Smells of lemon grass, lemon and orange citrus, and a slight spice mingling with sweet malts. Taste is excellent---light peppery spice on the back, light sweet Belgian malt on the front and sides, almost like a light peach taste with a medium dry finish and light herbal aftertaste of pepper spices and coriander. I am astounded. It is very nice and would pair great with many foods, light alcohol warmth----just about perfect.

From the 22 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on October 18, 2013.
It pours pale to golden yellow with a load of fizzy white head up top that settles down and laces as it goes. Active carbonation.
The aroma entices with Belgian toasted biscuit, floral or peppery notes, yeast, citrus, and grass.
The body is about medium.
The pepper notes that I get on the nose introduce themselves more formally in the taste with a little orange zing and toast mixed in. The finish is crisp, clean, dry. I would have this again.
