Mild haze to the otherwise clear, amber color. Starts with a moderate head, but dies to a ring of bubbles. Very little lace.

Strong crystal malt aromas with a touch of sugar. Reminiscent of honey and caramel. Attractive to the nose.

Slightly sweet, this is an caramel-tasting amber. Very little hop. Rich body with a below average level of carbonation. Easy to drink, similar to an American amber.

The head, made of regular but big bubbles faded quickly on a bright red purple color body. Very active. The smell is malty but a bit weak; maybe fruity hints of porto. The taste is enjoyably malty, showing grilled malts with a nice roundness in the mouth. Some chestnut, and notes of citrus. A bit bready in the mouthfeel, but not like the light notes of spice bread they talk about on the label. The hops show some fruity or herbal notes, but everything is a bit too hidden, too subtle. The beer lacks a more pronounced character.

Beer bottle (33cl.), tasted in 2004.

Appearance : amber color (brewed based roasted malt), with white foam head.
Smell : malty and fruity and herbal aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : malty, light shades of caramel and gingerbread give it a feeling of fullness and freshness.
Drinkability : a good beer in the style amber lager ?
