A: Nice creamy colour with good head and lacing.
S: Malty marmalade with some pine breaking through. Nice but not hugely potent.
T: Ok don't believe the APA designation. This is very much an IPA, and a damn tasty one. We're mainly getting pungent pine and bark in the taste with a fair bit of nuttiness. Oh and the bitterness really makes itself known but the tiniest sweet note at the end keeps it from subduing your palate entirely. But it does linger. There's a lot of marmalade, orange rind and citrus too. Great.
M: Thick, oily and resinous, with quite a bit of carb to tickle the palate.
O: Great stuff. This is a really well handled IPA with unashamed bitterness.

500ml bottle purchased from Slowbeer, poured into a 7oz glass.
Orange, glowing appearance, with a nice 2cm head of foam that remains with it throughout, diminishing only slightly.
Nice fruity and slightly piney aroma, US style c hops are very prevalent.
Slightly sweet, early, with the bitterness coming late. Fruit salad flavours are mostly it.
Smooth mouthfeel, not a throat-raker at all.
Overall, a nice APA, very solid session ale. Tasting fresh and well rounded out.

Pours dark amber with a small lasting head.
Nose shows lots of passion fruit and floral and piney resinous hops. Underneath is cookie dough, caramel and oats.
Similarly hoppy flavours with loads of pine. Little supporting malt, just a hint of sweet clean malt and some oats (???). Sharp, full-on bitterness.
Nice med-high carbonation.

Tuatara apa. Hop head heaven.
Tap at galbraiths in Auckland. Ok, going to be brutal with this one. Calling something an apa opens that up. Pours a light amber color with a tiny bit of head, I think they tried to get as much as they could into the glass.
Nose is excellent. I think I smell a lot of nelson. Yum. Citrus overload on a 5.7% beer is amazing... also get a bit of sweetness.
Taste... man, I wanted to rip this a new one, but this is quite possibly the best apa I have had. Sweet hop and malt are so well balanced... no huge bitter mouth picketing finish. These nz hops are fantastic. This is the best under 6% ipa/apa I have ever had. Medium bodied nice.. can't believe they get this into a 5.7% beer.

Pours a pale gold colour, clear body. Light bead, whispy beige-ish head. Decent.
Quite sauvin-y on the nose. Lots of passionfruit, pineapple, a touch of citrus. Nice resinous and woody characters and a slight spicy piquancy. Pleasant NZ hop nose, nice intensity.
Taste is quite malty. Lots of rich caramel toffee from front to mid. Hops come through late-ish, more passionfruit with light pine resin and wood notes. A pleasant, bitter American pale. But nothing very special.
Mouthfeel is good, decent body with a slight fizz - but not too much. Just a smooth drinking ale.
Good drinking beer to start off a session, enough hop to keep me interested.

On-tap at the Local Taphouse's Kiwi SpecTapular.
Pours a clear, pale golden colour, with a light by frothy head. good lace is formed as the beer goes down: sudsy, solid and complex. Light body, but it looks pretty decent overall. Very suitable for the style.
Nose is bright but subdued. Some tropical notes giving a fresh resonance, but it's very light overall, with a hint of graininess grounding it. Eh.
Taste is much better, with a clean and crisp nutty bitter character, that reminds me pleasantly of Mikkeller's single hop series. Crisp and bitter, but with good depth and a roundness to complement it. The hops give a nice greenness and a light pungency. Finish is long but clean.
Very easy drinking APA this one. Something I'd be happy to drink frequently. Not a bad drop at all.

Pours a great copper color with a very thick, sticky head. Excellent lacing.
A very sweet, fruit-like smell. Honey dew and cantaloupe come to mind with a faintness of citrus. Some pine and fresh grass.
Grapefruit is my first taste sensation, then a quick transfer to light graininess. Light biscuit, then back to a pear-like fruitiness. Their is a sparkling bitterness at the end that all blends together in a most enjoyable manner.
Besides the 'sparkling' bitterness, mouthfeel is light and clean.
A very different yet quite enjoyable APA. Based on the Beer Advocate description of use of local ingredients and expectation of fruity esters, I'd say this is a definite winner. Certainly not a 'traditional' IPA-style, and this is a good thing. Well-balanced and unique in taste to set this beer apart from the rest of the pack...

A - 2 fingers of soapy white head cap a murky orange amber, leaving behind thin threads of lace.
S - Tropical fruit hit of passionfruit, pineapple, orange and sweet sorbet.
T - Earthy fruity tang. Clean and fresh but something is lacking in the finish. Strong hop bitterness.
M - Smooth, acidic, oily, full body. Low carbonation.
O - Flavours didnt quite match the aroma, but improved as it warmed into a full, well-rounded pale ale.

This brew pours an impressive looking hazy orange, light amber hue with decent carbonation that leaves behind a very dense two finger head with heaps of lacing all over the place, the smell is quite nice with aromas of piney hops, orange zest and caramelized stonefruits,it has a medium bodied mouthfeel which is nicely carbonated and has tastes of grapefruit, orange zest, mandarin, light caramel/toffee and finishes with a nice tinge of piney bitter hops and overall i think its a pretty decent drop that i will definately buy again cheers.

A - Slightly hazy dark orange/amber colour with a 3cm dense white head that hangs around for a fair while.
S - The label states "Hop Head Heaven" and while I wouldn't quite go that far the hops are quite predominant showing tropical citrusy fruitiness as well some floral notes as well as a herbal, woody character. Some light caramel malt touches to balance it.
T - Not unlike the smell; the hops are the centrepiece in the taste as well. Floral and tropical fruit at the front followed by some woody/piney & herbal hop flavours. Enough malt sweetness to balance it but the hops still come through.
M - Medium bodied, lowish carbonation, quite hefty bitterness.
D - In all honesty could pass for a pretty good American IPA. Worth seeking out. My only complaint, which is probably being pedantic, is that it is too herbal for a great APA.

Hazy bright orange colour with a small off-white head. The head is a bit creamy and quite small.
Sweet and caramelly malt with a bitter orange and lime note. There's some pine as well. Nice.
A balanced APA with big, bold citrus flavour, some nice toffee malts and a hefty dose of bitterness.
Medium light body with moderately-high carbonation. Good.
A really solid APA. Lots of great flavour and a nice balance of sweetness and hops.
