On tap at the brewpub...

Clear darker amber appearance, head rises to 1/2 of an inch, then falls in 30 seconds. Vertical string laces. Aroma is biscuity, but has a hop tilt that's unusual for a Marzen, but not the Ale that this is -- black pepper and slight pine cone. Lightish body, sprightly carbonation. Flavor is nicely balanced if unremarkable, honeyish maltiness, some white bread and a subtle bit of of floral hops to the end. A bit of off celery flavor picked up as the pint ended, however. A little minimal in set-up, a more hearty finish. I drank a number of bottles of this beer (under the "Broadway Brewing" label) in Denver a few years ago, this matched my impression at the time, maybe a bit less than I remembered.

On tap at the brewpub. This is their flagship beer and that is understandable. I cannot make a suggestion to improve on it.
A nice amber in the glass, it Smells like sweet malty brew (not unlike an O-fest.) It Tasted that way also, clean without a lot of yeast interference. The hops balance well with the sweet and add a slightly fruity, juicy presence that comes and goes.

If you like malty ales, try this. I gave it extra points for Wynkoop's role in turning around the Union Station area after Denver was talking about tearing down the district where the city started. It is a great success story and beer helped !

Light brown in color, darker than most amber/reds, thin 1/4" head. Aroma was pretty neutral.

Taste was a malt heavy amber ale going all in on that and backing down from the hops. Equal parts red and brown ale. Average stuff.

Waaaay too sweet. Reminds me of the sweetened `special` beers in Germany. Red/black label and all
