Draught @ Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver, Colorado. The most cloudy and opaque beer I’ve ever seen, almost appeared thick in the glass, like paint. Orange in color. Doughy hints in the aroma, along with the usually yeast contribution of banana and clove, although this one seems high on the clove. Pretty vibrant nose, by the styles standards. Flavor is spicy and doughy, with a hint of developing tartness, which takes grip after the mid-palate. Vanilla, clove and banana bread flavors, with a fairly creamy body. Above average weizen for sure.

Had on tap at the brewpub

On arrival a one finger fine head is slowly dissipating to a ring around the glass and a light covering. Body is a light yellow straw with traditional hefe haze.

Aroma is incredibly yeasty to the point of almost having a true belgian blond vibe. Some banana esters are present but there is a bit of a funk here. Decently malty but quite dry on the aroma.

Taste is better than the aroma with some nice hefe banana vibes but the belgian character is still there as well. I may be primed however as I just had their belgian gold amd it seems like they might use some of the same yeast. A decent hit of dry wheat malt is present after the first hit of yeast before a slight sweetness creeps in on the finish.

Feel is refreshing, crisp, amd soft at the same time. A relatively high carbonation bite plus surprisingly good head forms on each sip. Has a medium finish, and distinct dryness.

Overall this is a pretty good German style hefe. Not quite fully authentic in the yeast, but it tastes pretty good, nice and wheat-y, amd has no weird American citrus wheat beer vibes. I'd drink this again.

Comes in darker than typical for style, this one leans amber. Plenty hazy, head formation and whatnot afterwards was meh. Lots of banana, clove esters.

Taste was as the aroma is, plenty bready, chunky. They followed tradition, carbonation being lower may have kept the chunky smooth vibe going. Minorly good beer.

classic hefe type, cloudy pale yellow with an inch of white foam. looks almost too cloudy, very dense and thick for what I know is supposed to be a lighter brew. nose of banana and clove from the yeast, tons of white wheat malt, and a refreshing coolness to it. some lemon on the taste to combat the banana, a really nice combination. too much yeast in suspension though, this one drinks a little heavier than it should. also perfumy for some reason, something that has plagued all the wheat beers wynkoop makes. clean finishing for the style. more body than I want, but pretty good carbonations. nice in the winter, but im sure this would be a it too much in the summer time, to much heft. overall a decent regular brew from wynkoop, but could use some fine tuning.

A bit darker than your average hefeweizen, this was more like a yellow and amber mixture of a color, plenty hazy. Not much lace or head retention going on. Banana, yeast and clove, definitely smells like a hefeweizen.

Taste offers a mild spiciness to compliment the banana and clove. A little bit lighter in heft than how it looks. Tinge of vanilla to it. Floral at times. Definitely better than the blue moon stuff down the street that sells by the palate. Obvious wheat stickiness and breadiness in the mouthfeel. Pretty smooth, they keep the carbonation a little lower on this one I would guess after having had multiple of their other beers.

I thought it was decent. Not my style, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone who does like to venture down this path.
