12oz can into a pint. Note 6.7% ABV.

A - Pours a very clear golden color. Light pearly white head formation. Brakes down to a film with some lacing.

S - Belgian nose, bits of bubble gum, spiciness and some underlying sweetness. Much more belgian than IPA as the label would suggest.

T - Starts off lightly sweet, pilsner malts -then a fairly potent dry hop punch. Citrus, pine. Finishes with a strong pilsner malt kick. Little retained sweetness in the finish.

M - Moderate to thick body and a lighter carbonation. Comes off a bit hefty. Sweet and sticky in the finish. A little alcohol warmth.

O/D - A good beer that isn't really belgian and isn't really IPA. Not in a bad way. More on the sweet side if that is your thing. ABV is manageable. A little bit filling

Glad to see the Wyn brought a beer up this far into B-county.

Another CAN from my CANorado visit to see The Old Lady! The CANQuest (TM) was in high gear in the Mile High City.

From the CAN: "Meet our small batch Belgium-meets-Colorado thriller. It's built with Colorado-grown malts and whole leaf hops, then fermented with a Belgian yeast. Luscious and balanced, it features pale malt flavors, layers of hops from start to finish, and spice notes."; "2011 Great American beer Festival Bronze Medal - Experimental Beer".

Following an innocuous Crack, I went with an inverted Glug just to see what would transpire. It has been a slow day here at Chez Woody. I got about two fingers of dense, tawny head with moderate retention, but the lacing that it left in its wake was amazing. Color was a slightly-hazy golden-yellow (SRM = > 5, < 7) and my yahoos, Mammon, King Midas and Croesus, were fighting for a taste. The nose was biting with a black pepperiness from the yeast along with a mintiness (peppermint?) from the hops. The CAN calls it an IPA, but man, I have not had anything like this. I like that this site calls it a Belgian Strong PA as it fits better. Mouthfeel was medium and the pepper was immediate and unabating on the tongue. It is really wild the way the yeast and hops interacted in this one, since it created a real bite for the senses.

12oz can served chilled into a pint glass.

Belgorado is a hazy orange amber with creamy white head. It settles slowly and leaves some nice lacing behind.

Aroma is fresh, fruity, and full of nice Belgian yeast esters. It's a little spicy too which is not uncommon for the style.

Flavor is strong and fairly bitter with an apple-like sweetness. Again, spicy and yeasty but not necessarily in a good way. Lacks the delicacy and balance that the really great versions have.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and appropriately carbonated.

Overall an okay example of the style but lacking in cohesion.
