Made the mistake of visiting the Wynkoop on a weekend (Saturday night). Downstairs portion of the bar was pleasantly full and abuzz. We found the service responsive if not terribly knowledgable. Beers were not unimpressive with a nice English IPA and pleasant ESB on cask. The Scotch and amber were fine and the chili beer was interesting. Hot wings came quick and tastily.

The mistake really showed itself when we migrated up to the "billiards room" billed as "the most elegant in downtown Denver." There we discovered out-on-the-town clad women and plowed guys, white Russians or margaritas in hand. Service was restricted to the obviously drunk tables and the little attention we received was of the "you're drinking beer?!" variety. Not an enjoyable experience.

The spot might be fine on a weekday afternoon but on the weekend it was a recipe for disaster.

Cool spot in one of the old downtown areas of Denver. Parking is a bit of a bitch, depending on when you visit, but it's a great area to walk through, weather permitting. Multi-leveled building, with bar area to the right of the entrance, and seating to the left. Bathrooms are downstairs, where there is also some vintage furniture, barrels, and you can spy on the brewing equipment. Outdoor seating overlooking the adjacent street, too, which is great when the weather is nice. Bartenders were friendly and prompt. There were about 10 beers on tap when we were there, I believe, as well as a nitro tap. Beer to go in growlers. Full gastropub menu, although we didn't eat, so I can't really comment on that. Definitely worth a stop on your Denver travels.

Wynkoop has done some really good beers over the years, but sometimes when I go over there, I just see the usual and not anything new that is of interest to me. Good thing they have a few longstanding favorites. They might be able to do some new ones with the expansion that is coming soon, so I'm looking forward to another visit down the road.

Varied selection of beer on tap, friendly bartenders, awesome food menu..enjoyable all the way around. Upstairs was a billiards hall and game room (we played skeeball haha). The beer I had was Mile HIPA. Bill had the Colorojo. I had an interesting salad with raw kale, quinoa, apricots and cheese etc. 2 blocks from Coors Field. Highly recommend if in LoDo neighborhood.
