Consumed on draft in April right there in Coors Field, reviewed from my notepad, color is a deep copper, one inch of soapy off white head, aroma has salt, smokiness, herbs, bread, and wheat, flavor starts off smokey and fades into toasted notes, salty in the finish, gets sweeter with caramel as it warms, thin bodied, overly carbonated, could not finish my glass, too smokey for my palate, mesquite barbecue came to mind while drinking this and that is meant for food and not beer, this is not something I could drink all the time, need to drink this stuff while it is cold, one of the few beers I tried from this brewer, while I was impressed with their interpretations of lagers, I was not blown away by any of their beers, would skip in the future, worth trying

On tap at Sandlot.
Pours a light yellowish-amber color with a small white head that fades.
The aroma is nice, with bacony smokiness and pale malt to back it up.
The flavor has mild pale malt sweetness - like a helles or golden ale - and fairly well-done smoked bacon flavors. A little caramel in there as well.
Medium-bodied, maybe a little on the thinner side, with average carbonation.
This was the best beer I had at Sandlot, not that that's saying much. A subtle and drinkable smoked beer.

Better than the original rauchbier, but still I want more smokiness damnit. It was decent, but come out more!
The smokiness that I did smell and taste was of mesquite.
What else to say? Nice appearance and smell, and decent drinkablility. Try it if you visit the brewery.

A darkish body with reddish hues topped with an off white head. Plenty of smokey aromas that was reminiscient of smoked salmon. According the brewer, this was made with 98% smoked Weyerman malts and it showed. First sip was a little cold due to the chilled glass and was a little out of balance. Lots of smokey flavor with a little bit of an acrid bite. But once this beauty warmed up, the acrid flavors were nicely balanced with the sweetness of the malt and became so drinkable. Mouthfeel was medium to medium thick and just seemed right fo this beer. Even after two pints, you could still detect heavy smoke flavor. This is a rauchbier drinkers dream come true.
