One of two places from Beerfly I visited while I was in Redding, visible from the freeway, went there in the early afternoon after breakfast expecting to find some gems and came up empty handed, I ended up leaving with one bomber of Bear Republic XP Pale Ale because I have not seen it before down in my neck of the woods, people working there did offer to help quite a bit and were friendly but did not leave me alone after a while, beer selection was pretty big I guess, some of the standouts were Deschutes Green Lakes, Caldera, some Sacramento stuff, Deschutes 19th and 20th Anniversary Wit, Etna, Eel River, 2006 Alesmith Grand Cru, some Weed stuff, and Mt. Shasta Brewing, prices were fair, I expected to see some Hair of the Dog and other Washington/Oregon stuff but did not, still might be worth checking out if you are in this area because there is not much else as far as beer goes

Stopped here in hopes of loading up on some Cali beers I didn't get in 09 in San Francisco. Found some regional gems like Mt. Shasta brewing and prices were ok. Tried to buy singles of what I could find, and employee there was more than happy to look in back for strays of others I wanted to try. Store was laid out nice and non congested... something I really liked compared to other decent bottle shops. Beers were both cooled and at room temperature allowing you to choose. Sadly I was unable to get many others I did want, as it seems California's distribution network is regional... leaving breweries like Alpine and Kern River only available in the south. If you're in Redding and want to find some regional breweries, it would definitely be worth a look.

Stopped into this place while with my buddy visiting his dad in Anderson.

Located in the back lot in the same building of the bowling alley

This store is massive like Bevmo Status... Tons of booze. The beer is on the far right aisle. In that aisle you have shelved beer on the left and coolers with beer on the right. Selection was typical with a few gems I came across. An entire floor display with probably 5 or so cases of 08 BCS! I thought that was pretty impressive. Then I found 08 The Beast and Sameal. Also rare and cool find. On my way to checkout I came across a display with Valley Brew beers and got 2 Old Iventories and a Ubber hopiness. I saw FW13 and Black Xantus being sold too but kind of pricey.
only service I got at checkout and the guy was cool but I had a line behind me so I couldnt really chat. Overall it was worth the visit to score the BCS but the selection was average with just a scant few perks.

This place is huge, about one aisle is dedicated to beer. About half of the beer is stored on shelves and the other half is refridgerated. They have a good selection of most of the Northern California micro brews and a few from further south, they also have a decent selection of foreign beers and not to mention all the macro crap. From a list on their wall is looks like they carry a good selection of kegs in stock as well. If you are traveling through Redding or live there I would recommend checking this place out.

Nice beer selection, and the service is good if you need it.

I tend to be a little careful with the non refridgerated beers. (which is about 1/2 of them) I have bought some beers here that had gone bad, probably from sitting on the shelf for months and months on end. Just stick to the coolers or to the seasonals (that are still in season of course) and you'll be fine.

It's funny... but every time I visit half the cars in the parking lot are from Oregon or Washington. And I usually see them loaded up with bottles of booze.

To all you "old-school" West coast people who used to look for the brown-and-orange Liquor Barn sign (before the days of Bevmo) - bet you thought they were gone! Can you believe there is one left? And, of all places, it's in Redding, CA.

Word on the street is the owner makes so much money off Oregonians who stop here to buy wine and liquor before they cross the border, that when Safeway shut down all the old Liquor Barns he actually bought the license to the whole franchise for a song. He's even kept the cool old sign.

This place is as big as an aircraft hanger (it's so large, there are billboard-sized posters on the walls). Enormous selection of everything, including the beer. Beers are separated international and domestic, with all the macro boxes in back. The International selection is good but not enough Belgians for me. The domestic shelves are pretty much a cross-section of the Western U.S., with usually a full range of offerings from each brewery (Lost Coast, Mendocino, SLO, Anchor, Anderson Valley, Humbolt - now in LA, 'sniff' :( - Deschutes, Mad River, Full Sail, the list goes on. Prices are fair, and there's usually some crazy special. There's a giant refrigerator where they've got sixers chillin' for about 75% of the domestics on the shelves.

Thankfully I escaped from Redding years ago, but whenever I go back to visit I always swing by Liquor Barn for old times sake, and a sample of the stuff I sadly can't get in NY.
