Another single in a mix six I picked up tonight.
The initial pour on this, while admittedly aggressive, produced a 9-1 head to beer ratio, and it stayed like that for about 5 minutes. Pours a golden color with the slightest copper tint, with a significant amount of suspended floaties inside. The gorgeous white head is chunky and thick, with excellent retention and leaving sheets of lacing.
Bottled in the 2nd week of October, this isn't the freshest of bottles, but the hop presence is still strong and straight forward. Mostly earthy and grassy with a hint of floral and citrus, the hops are still strong enough to mask the malt backbone. Decent enough smelling IPA, underrated if anything.
The taste is much milder than I expected. Has a slightly stale hop character, but I can still see glimpses of what this is like fresh. Juicy and floral, with a strong bitterness to balance out and mostly mask the caramel malt backbone. Decent enough, but myself and others are looking for more umph out of their IPA.
Mouthfeel is light to medium, with little to no carbonation but a very smooth and creamy feel to it. Goes down easy, with only a slight bitter bite and aftertaste. Drinkability is pretty good. This could possibly be a good intro to IPA's to someone who doesn't like hops yet.
Overall, a decent IPA, but not something I would specifically seek out to try again. I would be interested to see if the taste was any stronger when fresher, but as it is now, it's kind of boring. A decent enough beer, but it just didn't do it for me. This will be unfortunately, easilly forgotten.

Something is not to my liking here.
Smell is faintly hoppy, but doesn't ANNOUNCE pale ale.
Taste is where I have problems -- hops taste like celery seed or something vegetal. Light malt sweetness.
It feels like there is something a little oily in there that becomes thin and astringent in the finish.
