Poured from bottle to tulip glass, 46 degrees
Nice off white head, cloudy gold-orange color...uh oh. What is this?
Floaters...many many of them... massive sediment. Hmmm...is it a bad bottle or is this how it is supposed to be?
Some of the chunkies even have a dark, very unappealing look....could this be right? I know nothing of the need to decant this stuff.
First taste is with a curled lip, based on appearance. Not too bad. Hops , of course. Lemon, grassy green flowery essence, piggybacked on the grapefruit and piney taste. It is pretty good even though the appearance fouled me up. The head disappears into a disk, but stands strong all the way down. A hint of lace remains spattered on the glass. I like the way it tastes, but it is hard to be objective not knowing if this bottle is a renegade or not. If it turns out to be, I will edit my review. Powerful aftertaste that feels like it dries out your tongue. Sticks around, too.
Halfway through the brew there is a layer of river-bottomlike silt on the bottom of the glass.
Wow, hold this up to the light and there is a dogfight of specs and chunks. A little swirling and you can make a tornado that would make any 8th grade science fair entrant proud.
I like this stuff, being an IPA junkie and avid supporter of local brews.
Drinkability is above average, but nothing to make me want to get more.

Something is not to my liking here.
Smell is faintly hoppy, but doesn't ANNOUNCE pale ale.
Taste is where I have problems -- hops taste like celery seed or something vegetal. Light malt sweetness.
It feels like there is something a little oily in there that becomes thin and astringent in the finish.
