Picked up a single at Princetons in Maple Grove, MN. Mmmm. Reminds me a bit of a doppelbock for the big fruity tang. A little roasted barley follow it up, but there's a distinct, creamy yeast character that ties the toasty malt to the dry cherry/currant fruit. The finish is dry and crisp and the body isn't too thick. You can take this as a sipper, or treat it as a regular beer. Worth checking out.

Dark copper into brown colored, a bit of fish food swimming in a pretty hazy brew, small tan head doesnt last too long but contributes to a fair amount of lacing. Scent is thick and syrupy caramel malts, with a bit of alcohol detected. Nice thick sryupy brew, lots of caramel malt, some fruit notes, just a dash of bitter hop, sipicy alcohol. Medium bodied. Pretty nice brew overall.

pours a dark caramel, almost umber hue, hazy and glowing with hanging particulate. a dense one-finger head quickly fades but leaves nice wispy lacing.

subdued but clean aroma of caramel, biscuits, bread, and rye crackers. some apple fruitiness with hints of blackberry and honey.

taste is deliciously rich malt with honey, maple syrup, and fruit sweetness. bready, biscuits, and a touch of hops mixed with a bit of apple and black currant.

mouth is great. full, rich, smooth. sweet and full without being slick or hot. a slightly dry finish works perfectly with the ample but smooth and fine carbonation.

all in all, one of the more impressive alts I've had in a long while. smooth, solid flavors, clean. all in all, this one hits on all cylinders. not one I'd want a ton of, but as a single, it's exceptional.

Thank you hockeyd for this
12 oz bottle poured into a Rodenbach glass

A- A clear light brown with a very small that disappears quickly

S- Very malty, caramel malts, bread, touch of dark fruit.

T- Caramel malts, honey, floral notes, toffee, light bitterness in the finish, surprisingly complex, took me a two sips to really enjoy everything that is going on.

M- Smooth, medium body, dry finish.

O- A really nice beer and I am very happy that I got to try it, easy to drink 8.5% ABV is very well hidden.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint.
8.5% ABV, Mar Wk4 notched on the label.

A - Gorgeous light copper in color, it's made even sexier by perfect clarity. Low off-white head but little retention. Nice lace.

S - The mild aroma is very reminiscent of the classic German Altbier with a restrained profile. Low biscuity malts and almost no noble hop presence, nutty notes come through though. After a bit I pick up a hint of yeast as the aroma starts turning to what a glass of cold milk smells like.

T - Almost spot-on, the flavor of this alt is fantastic! Biscuity pils and Vienna malts have some nice complexity while smooth noble hops add a good flavor balance of light floral earthiness.

M - Crisp, clean, and medium-bodied, this Alt finishes out lightly bitter and slightly dry with a mild carbonation tickle. Slight alcohol warmth accompanies but doesn't seem to be anywhere near 9%.

O - Uber Alt is a ramped-up version of the German classic that absolutely nails the style while remaining dangerously drinkable. Definitely one of Rush River's best brews, I can see why they call it "yum-yum juice!"

Burnt orange in color with a thin head of tiny bubbles with good retention.

Big sweet malty nose with a touch of hops. Caramel and milk chocolate bar notes.

Rich and sweet malt up front with a fair backing of hops. Reminds me of Scottish malt with caramel, milk chocolate, toffee, scotch and banana notes. Nice hop presence. Really quite sweet and complex. Love it.

Smooth and soft all around. Dry finishing.

Really digging this brew. Not sure how well it fits the style, but I'm enjoying it too much to care. Loads of depth, sweetness and character. Time to get me a sixer of this!

This beer pours a hazy amber color the head is one inch in height, and recedes slowly into nice lacing. The aroma is of toast, toffee, light caramel, nuts, and a hint of floral hops. There is a lot going on in this aroma, and it is literally making me salivate. The taste is very malty with a lot of caramel, buttered toast, nuts, light toffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a velvety texture, and moderate carbonation. Overall, this is a really good beer. It reminds me of Victory Brewing's Ten Years Alt which I was very fond of. I can easily see Uber Alt becoming a regular of mine.

12oz bottle with date notches indicating week 4 of March. It is now May 19th.

A. An Orange-tinted light maroon brew with hardly any head to speak of despite a vigorous pour into my pint glass. It is within spitting distance of a Vienna Malt color. It has the appearance of being heavy-bodied by the way it swirls around.
S. Can't smell any hops at all in this thing. Instead what I smell is plums, figs, sweet toffee and nutella spread on toast. Man there must be a lot of malt in this thing.
T. Yup, there's a lot of malt in there. And as I suspected, a complete absence of hop flavor whatsoever. This would probably be a great beer to "convert" a non-beer drinker who has problems with beer because of issues with appreciating bitter flavors. Toffee and nut flavors dominate with stone fruits dancing around in the background. No harshness at all from the ABV, which earns high marks from me. It tastes just like a high gravity beer without hops ought to taste, IMHO.
M. Very nice. The carbonation is pleasantly tingly without being distracting, despite a puzzling lack of foam or head in the glass. Despite looking rather weighty when swirled around in the glass, it actually is only medium bodied on the tongue. Huh, weird, but not necessarily a bad thing. Also absent is the typical alcohol burn I get from something this high-octane. How the hell did they hide all that ABV?

Overall, I strongly recommend giving this one a try at least once. Well, maybe not if you are an IPA person, but if you dig Scotch Ales, look this one up and give it a shot.

A-Burnt orange color...

S-Smells rich and malty...almost like a Wee Heavy...dark fruits..caramel....

T-Richly malty with doppelbock like scents. Solid melanoidins... Fruity with plums and black cherries....also a bit of a wee heavy scotch like malt feel...kettlized caramelization...gooey caramel...just a load of sweet rich malt flavors.

M-Sweet but not sticky sweet. That is impressive. With all this malt goodness is still finishes with a slight dry note.

O-Nowhere near as bitter as the alt style typically calls for. That is a good thing in my opinion. All alts from here on out should taste like this one. Rich, malty and decadent. A dynamite beer! Make this the prototype!
