First time I've visited since the August changes to Georgia's maximum gravity laws. JAX now has a *very* good selection of Belgian ales and Abbey Ales. Four of the five Belgian abbeys were well-represented (multiple styles for each where more than one ale is produced). Selection of English, Scottish, and Irish brews is good, but not outstanding. American micro-brew selection is above average, but un-even. Unibroue, Rogue, Sierra Nevada, and Bert Grant's are well-represented. Others less so.
The ales are (almost) all stored out of the coolers, with the exception of fast-selling popular stuff like Sam Adams, Bass, Guinness, etc. All bottles seemed fresh and in good condition from outside appearances and freshness dates (where available).
All-in-all a nice find for those far north of the perimeter, especially if you like the Belgian and abbey styles.

Their beer selection has grown and grown. Tall shelves now packed with beer. If it is available in GA, there's a 95% chance it's here. The limited releases are usually here too, and will be at the front counter, just ask. There is a white board that lists the new arrivals. Any questions, ask for "Micah!"

Jax has a pretty good selection for a reasonable price. It has a smaller selection than the places I'm used to in Illinois, but it certainly has some quality beers and an adequate amount to find something worth buying. The prices were also less than in Illinois, but seemed on par for Georgia as far as beer goes. I didn't need any help from the employees, but the elderly man at the counter was knowledgable about the beer and my selection sparked a short conversation about craft beer and selection in Chicago vs Atlanta.
I come to this area to see family a couple times per year, and Jax is a few miles from where I stay. I make it a point to visit every time.

Wow is this place out there. I live North of the city....and this place is 25 minutes further north of me, So...it is not a place you frequent weekly, but is a great place to stop in about once a month. In terms of selection in the Atlanta area is definitely ranks top 3. The prices are what you expect for bombers/etc, and the staff are always nice and the guys who stock really know their beer. You may pass someone by who is not wearing shoes, and the place is a bit dingy...but you can't ignore their singles beer selection. It's worth the trip.

I just found out about this place despite living in GA for 21 years. This is a great place with great selection and great prices. It's a bit far to be my everyday stop, but a once a month trip up there is not much to ask considering the price and selection is hard to beat. If you are on your way through Atlanta, or live in North Fulton, you owe it to yourself to stop by. I only have two complaints; 1. The aisles are REALLY small and it was packed when I was there so navigating is a bit tough. But that is pretty minor. 2. They don't have a good selection of individual 12 oz bottles. It's mainly sixers. But, their bomber selection is so great that it didn't really bother me.

What a haul today. They have some excellent selections this winter. Have been many times, but felt it was time to review. I live in TN, so it is always good to see what our southern neighbors have in stock, since we are nil on beer selections. Saw lots of good stuff I could have bought, but kept it reasonable today. Saw lots of Smuttynose, Bell's, Duck Rabbit, Stone, including the juxtaposition. Bought all the DR baltic porter they had, 3 six-packs, bomer of SN baltic porter and a bomber of the new Blue Moon grand cru, and a few others. The beer area is getting very crowded, but still manageable. Just try not to miss an aisle like we did. I asked a salesperson if they had any DR, and he brought us to an area we missed! He opened all the cases to look for the baltic porter, very helpful! Prices were decent. I think the selection is better than Green's.

Q: The store could be a bit cleaner and easier to maneuver. With that said, its much better in terms of appearance than most of the other liquor stores in the Atlanta area.
S: I had 4 different employees ask me if I needed any help. One suggested the Schneider Hop Weiss since he saw that I had picked up the Brooklyner Schneider. One of the other employees pointed me to each and every of the beers I asked for immediately after I asked. It was a refreshing change from the normal fend for yourself feeling in the Atlanta metro stores.
Sel: If not for the two Green's locations this place would get a 5 on selection. All of the American micros were well represented. There was also a huge selection of imported beers. For those of us that live so far north its an excellent store to frequent.
My haul was a 6 pack of DR Rabid Duck, Avery 15th Ann, Hebrew Jewbelation, Unibroue 17, Brooklyn Schneider Hopfen Weiss, Lagunitas Lucky 13, Allagash Four, Allagash Curieux, and Terrapin Roggen Rauchbier. The total was $81 with tax (cash prices).
I could have easily spent another $100 without trying hard. Things like Harviestoun Old Dubh (12, 16, and 30), Unibroue 16 (and the rest of the Unibroue line), Hop Wollop (and the rest of the Victory line) etc all made me want to pounce. It was a tough job limiting myself to the ones I made the trip for so that I could still pay cash.

What can I say? One of the best stores I've ever been to. We were greeted by a friendly fellow named Micah almost immediately. He was VERY familiar with the beers and gave us a "tour" of their selection after he found out what kind of stuff we like.
We got some great Dogfish Head (90 minute IPA and Chicory Stout) and a Sweetwater seasonal that was good but I forget the name of.
Great prices and everyone else in the store seemed friendly as well. Crazy that a way out suburb of Atlanta can make a San Diego resident jealous with their beer selection, but it did. Anyone in the area has to check it out. You won't be disappointed.

This is a great store. The beer is located on the back right in coolers and on racks. They do have a few singles for purchase too on the rack. They have most of the craft brews from our area, but also have a ton of belgians and alot of european beers. The main thing is that this place is cheap!! Especially if you are looking for cases of your typical beers and are paying cash. They offer a few % discount for cash customers. Selection vs. pricing--cannot be beaten in my area. I will definitely come back to Jax soon!
