Pours a translucent straw-yellow with a white somewhat short lived frothy head.
The nose bouquet was citrus, citrus, lemons and lemons!
I am always on guard for beers that claim spices and other "odd" ingredients-- in this case chestnuts. A mild surpise was in store as the flavor burst with what I'd like to call citrus, but more toward lemon but not either at all. I couldn't taste the chestnuts but nevertheless the flavor was a robust combination of hops and citrus with a little coriander and a pinch of nutmeg thrown in and maybe all presented with a backdrop of a faint malt.
Mouthfeel was such that the cool libation seemed like a thirst quencher but it's not so simple- the flavor kept going and the hearty stance made for a lively finish that beckoned another sip..
Overall this beer was a refresher-- even on new year's eve and the flavor was dry and cordial.
Yes-- even though per bottle the price was higher than I usually shell out of beers, this brew will be on my must have list.
