Pours a very cloudy golden color with a very thick foamy head. Head retention and lacing are superb. Not many comparable to it. Farmhouse, farmhouse, farmhouse aroma. Slightly peppery. Maybe some lemon. Nice farmhouse, spicy bite to the taste. The Belgian yeasts are strong and slightly spicy. Kind of a lemony, tart, astringent aftertaste. Very good beer. My first try with Jolly Pumpkin. Will definitely try some of their other offerings.

A: Gold color beer with a mild haze. A modest finger of white foam poured and quickly dissipated leaving behind a ring of tiny bubbles around the edge and a cloud in the center.

S: Bright lemony tart, white grape aroma with a refreshing lactic bite. Funky hay and damp wood with a wheat and soft bread like malt character in the background - very similar to Cantillon lambics.

T: Green apple tartness with lemon zest and musty basement funkiness. Nice balance of tart and funk flavors with clean pilsner malt in the middle. A moderate spicey hop character in the finish that gives a freshness to the beer.

M: Moderate to high carbonation with prickly tiny bubbles. Crisp dry finish with a light to mild body. the tartness leaves a mild drying sensation on the tongue and cheeks.

O: A very underrated beer. The funk character reminded me so much of Cantillon but the tartness was lower - being a farmhouse style i didn’t expect that but a welcomed surprise.

I like this beer but it was way over carbonated and produced an ever growing tall white head.
Good to the taste with yeast and malts and funk and some light lemons.

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a stemmed glass. This is from batch 224, bottled 11/05/13.

Appearance: Pours a translucent amber and leaves several fingers of puffy white head, that linger for quite a while before slowly fading to some white layers atop the beer. (4.5)

Smell: Green apple skins, slight musty funk, white grapes, a bit of citrus zest, bready malts. This smells like the inside of those old wooden apple orchard stores that sell their fresh produce - really lovely. A smeller for sure. (4.75)

Taste: Bready, biscuity malts, some green apple, a bit of lemon zest and some light floral hops. Quite light and balanced. Refreshing. (4.25)

Mouth-feel: Low to medium carbonation with a medium, slightly dry body that works well with the style. Highly drinkable and nice and light. (4.25)

Overall: This one took me by surprise - really a lovely beer. Absolutely delicious aroma, with apples and appleskins taking center stage. As for the drinking, nice and light and tasty. I'll be picking more of this up to see if it's as good when fresh. (4.25)

A bottle conditioned ale so it poured a bit thick. The head stuck around for a while with this hazy beer. It had a lemony hay flavour with a slight bitterness. Out of all the beers we tried during this particular tatsing it had the lowest ABV at 4.5% but presented higher in the mouth. A great sipping beer.
