First of all, thanks to Kay for being so kind, and giving me this bottle to enjoy. Poured from a 750 ml bottle into my Cheers drinking mug.
A) Golden with a slight haze. A really nice 2 finger head was generated by the pour. It had a nice rocky look to it. Good retention and lacing. Looks good....
S) Yeasty, funky with spices. A bit of black pepper. There was an odor that reminded me of old cut grass that has been sitting in a yard bag inside of the garage.
T) The flavor was not as funky as the nose. It was actually fairly tame, and easy drinking. It had the yeast and spice aspects of the nose, not quite as peppery. The hops makes an appearance, and this leads to a grassy, slightly bitter finish.
M) Pretty light, and highly carbonated. Crisp and refreshing, with a slightly dry finish. The mouthfeel works out pretty well.
O) Farmhouse Ales are admittedly not my favorite style, and yet I keep drinking them. Guess I'm waiting for some sort of ahha moment. This brew seems like a solid option to me, and while I'm not likely to seek it out again, if you like farmhouse ales, I think you'll probably enjoy it.
