22 oz. bottle (Publick House Provisions) in a Brooklyn Tulip
Appearance: Light gold color; thick, foamy head that dissipates very, very slowly and leaves intricate lacing. Cloudy.
Smell: A fantastic smell. It's full of lemon zest, but the earthiness dominates the nose. A mixture of grass, hay, and mustiness (LOTS of yeast), combined with the lemon and citrus smell, gives this a great scent.
Taste: Even better than the smell. This tastes true to the Saison style; the mustiness of the smell dominates the taste, but there's also a nice lemon undertone, as well as a tartness that kicks in as it goes down.
Mouthfeel: Not as full-bodied as I had expected. There's a nice fizziness to this, though, that makes it interesting, and like a good saison, it's very dry.
Overall: I've been on a saison kick lately, and this ranks right up there. It's true to the style (dry; not sweet like American saisons/farmhouse ales seem to be) and exceedingly drinkable.

Pour is hazed golden amber with a tight white head. Nose is hoppy and juicy, clean grain, juicy golden fruits, and a light dustiness. Grains are more in the forefront, clean. Dusty yeast, juicy golden fruits, extremely strong carbonation on a light body. Pear, lemon, nice integration and bright flavors but the carb takes a hint away from the finish.

A: Highly carbonated. Huge 4" head, rocky, frothy. Light golden in color, fairly cloudy. I don't love beers quite this carbonated, but I do love the look of this beer.
S: Spicy, brett funk, hay, a little bit of earthy hops as well. Very nice.
T: Taste very similar to aroma, but with a bit more bitterness, actually some malt sweetness as well. The brett is almost more in the backseat playing with the rest of the beer. It isn't very cheesy or horsey, hay would be the best descriptor. Spicy, but certainly not too spicy. Very nice, well balanced beer. Completely enjoyable.
M: Medium light, the carbonation doesn't bother me all that much. Not super drying, coats the tongue just a bit. This could certainly be classified as refreshing though, although it's fairly complex.
O: I think this is just a wonderfully made beer. It has so many subtle flavors that blend into something complex. It's refreshing yet interesting. Recommend.
