A: This pours a pale straw in color with excellent clarity and a few fingers of enthusiastic bone white head. The head is long lasting and leaves some lacing on the glass.
S: There is an initial sharp sourness that gives way to some barnyard funkiness. There is slight wheat malt aroma. After a long and enjoyable search some citrus fruit and spice aromas come through; there are moderate to moderately-low levels but the sourness just dominates.
T: The citrus flavors make your mouth water only to have it completely dried out in the very dry finish. The moderate tartness an moderately-low sourness make this so refreshing. There is some lemon and lime citrus flavors. Middle palate there is a attack of spice and hops bitterness with moderate flavors of clove, pepper and nutmeg.
M: Light bodied with very high carbonation stopping just short of fluffy. There is a slight prickel on the tongue after the dry finish and bitterness fade.
O: A very dry and refreshing somewhat soured wheat beer.

750ml bottle. What the hell is 'a generous dose of good-natured rapscallion delight'?
This beer pours a hazy, bright medium golden straw hue, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy eggshell white head, which leaves little beyond a few instances of looming iceberg lace around the glass as things slowly sink away.
It smells of funky orchard fruit - apple, pear, a bit of apricot - grainy wheat malt, earthy yeast, a further touch of weak banana chip and lemon zest fruitiness, faint white pepper, a sure, why not, clove spiciness - ok, a tart/sour hefeweizen, I get it so far. The taste is a re-up on the light pear and apple fleshiness - more zingy than sweet - moderately funky yeast, cresting wheat grain, white wine grape must, almost ghostly banana notes, equally sedate spice - the pepper walking all over the purported clove - and a certain flinty minerality.
The bubbles are fairly active, but mostly in a pleasant fizzy and frothy sense, the body medium-light in weight, and a bit too tight and thin to be considered particularly smooth. It finishes quite dry, the funk, yeast, grain, and lingering fruitiness all coming across as spent and done.
A science project, with at best, middling results (I wouldn't want to make the tri-fold board display for this). JP brings the funk, yo, fo sho, but in the process pretty much decimates the underlying hefeweizen subtleties - the soft, fruity banana gets the shiv early on, and even the wheat seems wan by comparison to any decent example of the base style. An attempt, I can see, to meld disparate brewing methods - they ain't all gonna work out, huh?
