La Parcela is an interesting wild pumpkin ale, with less emphasis on pumpkin and pie spices, and more on a mixture of pumpkin and Brettanomyces-induced flavors. Enjoyable, somewhat similar to Weizen Bam, but still its own creation, while I'm not sure how essential this is, I still enjoyed it and would probably buy a bottle yearly if it were available. I found this to be best served slightly below room temperature, perhaps around 60F. With a few years of age on it, this could be a very interesting sour beer.
Pours a 2cm head of small, dense, off-white white bubbles. Retention is above average, lasting several minutes before settling to a thin cap atop the body of the beer that remains the entire glass. Head leaves significant, attractive lacing along the sides of the glass: elegant matrices mixed with thick clumps. Body is a hazy, light copper, with very evident carbonation. Light brings out a brighter copper-orange hue to the somewhat opaque body.
Smells primarily of light Brettanomyces (barnyard and mustiness) on top of a generic, smooth sweetness and very slight acid tartness. The pumpkin, spices, and cacao are not noticeable to me at all, fairly disappointing. More reminiscent of Weizen Bam's aroma with a hint of tartness.
Has a definite wood-aged character to it on the forefront of the palate, perhaps more juniper than oak. Front of palate picks up mildly musty and hay-like Brettanomyces-induced tastes, with a mild malt-meets-pumpkin sweetness underneath it all. Mid-palate of mild pumpkin flavor and sweetness intermingling with light tartness and Brettanomyces induced plastic resin-like and wet hay flavors. Back of palate with prominent pumpkin sweetness, oak/juniper wood, and modest acetone-like and ethanol flavors. Lingering aftertaste of ghostly cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, with a bit of pie crust, which are not really discernible until this point.
Beer is medium to medium-light in body, with medium to medium-high level carbonation that foams the beer somewhat substantially across the palate, creating a mouthfeel that is at first fizzy, then smooth and foamy for the remaining amount of time this lingers on the palate. Closes semi-dry, with little bitterness and slight stickiness across the palate.

Poured into a standard tap a hazed brown infused orange with a thinner off white head atop,kind of a strange color to this.Funky cheese aromas with a hint of pumpkin pie spice,an odd combination but sorta worked.Flavors of barnyard funk and more of the cheese wich isn't my thing,a faint pie spice comes into play.I knew it would be a little funky coming from JP but maybe a little to much of it for me.

Hazy orange pour with a two finger head of creamy white foam on top. Nice lacing on the side of the glass. Aromas of typical Jolly Pumpkin barrel sour funkiness melding with cinnamon and nutmeg spiciness. Pumpkin pulp is in there too and the spices are not overpowering. Touch of tartness.
First sip brings smooth crisp malts with great barnyard and funky accents. JP barrel character is riding all over the place. Cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of ginger as it flows down. Pumpkin meat accents are there but not overpowering. Flows down with a tart kiss and some lingering spiciness. A bit wacky but it works in a weird way.
Mouthfeel is on the lighter side with fast moving carbonation. Easy to drink but I can't say this is my favorite JP beer. A little odd with the pumpkin and a bit astringent. Overall though a fun pumpkin beer and definitely a 180 on what most standard pumpkin beers are. Give it a try if you have the access to it.

In a pint glass the beer was an amber color with a fairly small off-white head.
Little aroma. A hint of pumpkin and spice. No cacao.
The taste revealed more spice, seemed to be mostly nutmeg. A little bit of pumpkin taste.
This beer was way to harsh. Not pleasant at all.
I had a difficult time finishing it.

Pours a cloudy orange/brown with a massive amount of creamy head.
Smell starts out with pumpkin and some spices (cinnamon and nutmeg stand out). After that, smell is somewhat flowery with a bit of funk. An interesting take on a pumpkin ale.
Pumpkin is very subdued in the taste, but is still present. Tart, funky notes dominate the taste. Taste i much more floral than the smell. Spices appear on the aftertaste, but are pretty faint throughout.
Mouthfeel is light and very bright from the perhaps excessive carbonation.
Overall, this isn't something I'd seek out more than once. Interesting though.

Large bottle, purchased at DeCicco's, Ardsley, NY.
"Batch 160, Bottled 8-13-10" on a sticker on back of the bottle.
Pours heavily hazed, lighter brown, typical smaller head, leaves respectable lighter lace.
Lighly bretted nose, light vinagar note also coming through. Musty, earthy, funkyness burbling along just benenth the surface.
Interesting and tasty brew. Moderate sour note, soft brown ale characteristics, more light vinagar.
Pleasant bite, cut through, the earthy and tomato notes of my spicy chile. Nice wintery brew. Well worth seeking out.

Batch 610. Bottled 8/13/10.
The beer pours a yellow-orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma begins as your basic pumpkin ale. I get some nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin. However, since it is a Jolly Pumpkin beer, you know there will be some tartness and it is present in the aroma.
The flavor is pumpkin, brett, nutmeg and cinnamon. There is also a low amount of tartness in the flavor, but the beer is more funky than sour.
Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
A very nice, interesting take on a pumpkin beer. Glad I got to try this one.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Tulip on Halloween.
Appearance: Cloudy orange with large, foamy, cream-colored head and great lacing rings.
Smell: Expected sour aroma for a Wild Ale, with vinegar, cider, cherry and horseblanket. Some dry spiciness.
Taste: Taste is a little more complex and seems to have two primary layers. The first is sour and barely sweet, with apple cider, brett, vinegar and light caramel. The other layer is quite spicy and dry, and this where the nutty pumpkin and cacao subtly come into play.
Feel: Moderately high carbonation with a fairly light body. Long, lingering dry & tart finish.
Overall: This really should be classified as a Wild Ale, as that clearly takes precedent over the pumpkin and spices. Either way, this is a great and very refreshing beer.

750 ml capped bottle poured into a snifter. "Batch 885 Bottled 9-08-2011" (1 year, 8 months of age)
Pours out a clear light amber /orange color, a nice 1 finger or so of white head off the pour that retains nicely. Some lacing here and there.
Not a whole lot going on in the aroma. Some light brett like funk and if you really dig a touch of pumpkin.
Nothing really jumps out and says "this is a pumpkin ale!" There is a touch of cinnamon and maybe a bit squashy in the finish. But a rustic Brett, slight barnyardy flavor is what is at the forefront. Finishes with a refreshing light tart/ sourness and some citrus.
Light, refreshing, easy drinking.
A good Brett beer, but not really a great pumpkin ale. Just slight nuances of pumpkin and spice. This has changed much with age as I remember it being relatively the same fresh. Not something I would purchase again, especially given the higher price tag, but I still look forward to JP beers I have yet to try.

On-tap at the Porter Beer Bar in Atlanta.
Pours an opaque orange-copper color with a one-finger cream-colored head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of smooth oak with good amounts of funk. Also present are moderate amounts of soft spices - nutmeg and cinnamon - and lighter amounts of meaty pumpkin.
Tastes similar to how it smells, though more muted. Mildly dry caramel malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by solid amounts of spices - mostly nutmeg with hints of cinnamon and brown sugar. Midway through the sip the flavor profile becomes tart with the addition of oak and hints of funkiness. Right before the end of the sip slight amounts of pumpkin flavors briefly work their way into things before fading out into a mildly tart ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.
Drinkability is also good. I had no problems finishing my glass and could have another.
Overall this was certainly one of the more interesting pumpkin beers I've ever had. Unfortunately I don't think the style lends itself to what JP does best. I don't foresee myself revisiting this one but if you haven't had it then it's certainly worth trying.

(Served in a tulip glass)
A- This beer pours a hazy deep orange body with a bubble beige head that breaks up and last as a broken film. There is a fast micro carbonation trailing up the side of the glass.
S- The sharp but gentle tartness has some white cheese rind notes and apple skins that come through. There is some white wine tannins that grow stronger in the finish.
T- The nice mellow vinegar tartness has citrus qualities that take on more apple notes as it opens. There is a vegital hint has a soft dry spice quality and a brie rind taste that lingers. The touch of white wine taste lingers after each sip.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a tough of astringency and a soft fizz prick in the finish.
O- The nice light tart beer has good depth and a gentle funk to it. None of the pumpkin, spice or cacao stood out but it did have lots of subtle layers that these probably contributed too.
