Poured into an Ommegang flute.
A: Pours amber with golden highlights. 2 fingers of fluffy white head that dissipates slowly. Excellent clarity and very low carbonation.
N: Light yeastiness akin to chlorine, straight up pumpkin, nutmeg, lightly toasted grains, a slight pie crust and a very mild barnyard funk.
T: Lactic acid and pumpkin upfront along with some of that chlorine aroma, grapefruit and white oak. Mid-palette brings in some notes of brown sugar, grains, a light funkiness, tart golden apple and pear. Finishes with pear, sour apple, a hint of cherry, white oak and yeast.
M: Light-medium bodied, slightly tart, smooth and dry.
O: Thank God Jolly Pumpkin decided to try a different take on the Pumpkin Ale. Other than a few Imperial Pumpkin ales that used different bases for theirs, the style has become pretty mundane. Now here comes a sour pumpkin... GENIUS! Very easy drinking and would make an excellent introduction to those trying to get into sours. All around and excellent sour although mild with hints of an ACTUAL pumpkin flavor along with cherry and apple.
