Got three Sixers at local grocery for $3.99 a piece! Couldn't believe the deal! This is a fantastic every day beer for those of us that prefer a bold ipa, a crisp pilsner, or tart lager.

This beer has character, yet maintains just above the session level abv... but not too high abv category. A keeper...

Best by 6/30/15.

Pours a murky light golden-orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of peach juice, peach puree, and peach ring candy aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus juice, citrus zest, peach puree, and peach ring candy flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with really nice peach aromas and a solid mix of peach and citrus flavors that make this one tasty and easy to drink.

Ratings are correct below, but I changed some marks above to make the final rating as close as possible with Beer Advocate's "revamped" system. The 3.94 overall rating is accurate.

Type: 12-oz. beer
Glass: Stone Ruination IPA pint glass
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $10.99 for a variety 12-pack (12 Beers a Springing)
Purchased: April 22, 2015
Consumed: April 23, 2015
Misc.: Best by June 30, 2015 at 3:30 p.m.

Poured a golden, straw, hazy color with two fingers of white, frothy head. Lots of slow-moving bubble streams coming up from the bottom. Minimal wet lacing. Bad retention. (Sight - 3.63)

Smelled a pleasant whiff of pineapple, coconut, mango, passion fruit and other tropical notes. Also got some light Citra, floral, fruit punch, peach and cherry. Really digging this nose. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted really close to the nose, but a little sweeter. Didn’t taste as good as I thought it would though. Tropical dominating again, getting coconut, pineapple, passion fruit, fruit punch and mango. Also floral, apricot, peach, Citra and black cherry soda. (Taste - 3.88)

Light-to-medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Long, tropical finish. (Feel - 3.88)

I really liked this tropical style beer. Glad to be able to have two more after this one. (Overall - 3.88)

Decent Wheat Ale, aroma is a bit strange with banana and lemon, with a yeastyness and sour milk. Taste is nice, smooth feel, with a good dose of citrus, creamy yeasy notes, apricot, quite slight bitterness but balances the creamy malt sweetness. A bit sweet but the beer is pretty good, bright citrus notes, and a lingering finish with a bit of cloying character. Not a beer I could drink more than a couple of but a flavourful option that works.

Definitely not your average Belgian white. This has a bitter backbone and flavors of either slightly underripe peach or apricot. The flavor is complex and really changes over time. I had this on tap and from a growler over the past few days, depending on the food pairing/weather/my mood, it seemed to take on different nuances. The only downside for me was the bitter backbone lends to a bit of an off aftertaste. Overall, a crisp, complex, and refreshing beer.

12 oz bottle

Hazy pale golden color. Aroma is very fruity, bright. Taste is not bitter at all, the hops are all flavor.a bit sweet. Medium bodied. Overall much better than I expected as I'm not normally a big fan of wheat.

the first saranac beer i actually enjoyed, and would probably buy again, in a long time. cloudy and golden, definitely looks appealing.
nose is sweet with notes of citrus and peaches.
Tastes sweet with bright fruity, especially peach flavors followed by a slight bitterness.
overall the most complex beer from saranac yet! definitely a nice summer drink for a hot day. well done saranac!

surprisingly complex (if you let it sit....and forget it's Saranac....not sure why folks beat up on it so much)

expected cloudy golden obtuse shimmer ;)
massive head (please pour it in the right glassware in the right way....!)

candied apricot nose

tangy-sweet bright/light fruit esters...amazing spectrum

mouthfeel is a bit thinner than i would like...maybe the hops can't help beef up the wheat/wit aspect...best place to be 'weak' at

an amazing brew....silly label...what's inside counts

highly recommended

A: cloudy; deep gold in color; 1 finger white head that receded to a thick collar; OK lacing;

S: sweet peach;

T: sweet peach up front; the peach stays to the finish; a somewhat harsh bitterness comes in mid-palate;

M: light to medium bodied; moderate carbonation;

O: an interesting combination of the sweet peach and harsh bitterness;

3/10/15 Draft - (The Laughing Man- DC) - Aroma flowery and sweet. Nice blond pour with mid carbonation and white head. Very sweet and light, nice fruity taste. Texture is light, nice feel. Usually do not go for sweet beers but this was very good.

A cloudy light orange, with medium carbonation. The smell is very fruity and flowery. Apricots and peach.. The taste is hoppy and packs a fruity/citrus punch without a lingering aftertaste. I doubt I'd drink more than one in a sitting, but would certainly enjoy drinking it. Just a bit too sweet for me.

Pale orange Color with a strong fluffy white head.. A/T very strong peach and apricot, orange wheat malt, as it warms a noticeable pine hop.. Very good beer wish it had little less pine hop though.

Looks sort of like a semi-clear wheat. Head is average and lacing pretty good. Aroma hits right up front with white peach and other citrus. Smells awesome !!. Taste is similar to aroma with lots of peach and a nice hop bitterness. This beer IMHO is very well balanced and a great refreshing offering from Matt Brewing. Cheers !!

The others have described the characteristics of this beer pretty thoroughly. It has a decent, but short-lived head, balanced carbonation and pleasant cloudiness, but the elephant in the room is the ovewhelming scent and flavor of artificial peach, identical to that of those soft, gummy candies. That flavor is so dominant and such a peculiar choice for an ale, that it is grounds for rejection.

Strong unique grapefruit like smell and taste. A lot of carbonation. Not smooth. Otherwise great flavor and aroma. No real great head. Thin layer of foam that doesn't retain on the glass. If the mouthfeel was smoother and slightly more round, it'd be a 4 to 5

White gold color from the cloudiness. Good starting head provides extensive streaky lace.

There's the wheat and then there's a surprising floral hop nose. I also detect a sweetness that is reminiscent of candies peaches.

Sweet brew but not cloy. There's a bit of bitter dry in the swallow, yet the aftertaste is like the aforementioned peaches. Not as much wheat in the taste as fans of style might like, but the flavor profile is exceedingly complex. The body is full and the carbonation elevated.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on May 26, 2014.

It has a milky pale yellow pour leading up to a modest white fizzy head that fades. Nice bits of sediment floating about.

The aroma does not make me think of a witbier. It is more like a fruit beer considering the main notes I get are watermelon and mango. Any toasted biscuit notes are in the distance.

Light and refreshing body.

The taste is also on the fruity side but a modest bitterness kicks in to help make this feel more like a beer.

Saranac Prism White Ale
12 oz. brown bottle, code "1424306131502"

Notes: Cloudy yellow-gold body. Bright white head. Very good head retention. Initial lacing is impressive. Floral, very fruity/citrusy nose... pineapple, melon, papaya, lemon, orange, strawberry. Slightly yeasty/chalky and peppery. Flavor is vastly different, yet retains citrus. Nice, light note of orange. More pine than pineapple. Some grapefruit. Mostly Pith. Resinous. Raspy. I don't find the spices that the label suggests other than a bit of dull coriander seed, and perhaps some black pepper. Some very nice wheaty malt. Solid bitterness. It definitely lingers on the palate. L-O-N-G finish... bitterness fades to residual tangy citrus. An interesting beer that's kind of like a Belgian wit but lacking the yeast, and somewhat like an American wheat but with more bitterness. The neck label reads "LIKE THIS? TRY THIS: WHITE IPA", and that seems to be where this is headed. The bitterness could be dropped a bit. I love the aroma but the flavor seems out of balance. Halfway through I can't decide if I'd have another, yet I've still got half a glass left, which says something.
