at first impression a very average easy drinkin pilsner, nothing special. poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass. nothing to write home with about this beer, but definatly a decent one. easy drinkin and easy to enjoy. very refreshing but not very complex.

12 ounce brown bottle poured into my shaker glass. Appears a crystal clear golden yellow color with a finger of quickly fading off white foam. Smells and tastes of lightly toasted grains, grass, very mild earthy hops, and a touch of sweet malt. A bit thin bodied with about average carbonation for the style.

This beer pours a golden color with some clouds but not really a head. The nose is pretty tough to pick out of the fresh cool sensation that comes off a freshly poured beer. Smooth and clean flavor from attack to finish. Pretty nice balance and overall composition. No characeristics really stand out. The mouthfeel is thick. Clean and fresh as far as overall evaluation. By that I mean that its a good beer for hanging out in the yard, but not one to bust out for your beer advocate buddies necessarily.

Poured clear golden yellow with a thick white foam that died down quickly.

Smell was light hop, otherwise not noticable.

Taste was clean, dry, mildly hopped. Ever so slightly watery, but not so much that it hurt the taste. Mildly sweet.

Not a remarkable beer, but a drinkable pils that was a good part of the sampler. Tasty. I'd go back to this one.

A - poured a clear honey yellow with a 1" head that disappeared in 3 minutes and left minimal lacing

S - hints of apples, apricots, light malts, and grassy hops. Tones of wheat as well.

T - decent amount of hops up front but rather malty for a pils. Touch of apple cider. The taste as a whole seems watered down.

M - light bodied, medium carbonation

D - Drinkable, refreshing at least.

Overall - A decent pilsener from Saranac. Although I would prefer a Lowenbrau, Warsteiner, or Bitburger, I would drink this if I ever bought the summer variety pack again. Otherwise, a decent attempt.

Saranac Golden Pilsener is a clear, bright yellow lager with a soft white head that completely dissipates before long. The aroma is herbal and somewhat metallic. There are notes of mint and vegetables. It is very light, watery and rather flat. There is a slightly hoppy flavor and some light lemon, eucalyptus and... chemicals. I just mowed the lawn before I drank this. I'm not sure if that helped the rating at all.

Poured from a bottle into my Heavy Seas pint glass

A - Pours a flat light golden color with no foam to speak of

S - light wheat and grass smell with just a bit of hops

T - has a malty taste to it with a slightly citrus hop flavor

M/D - Not a bad beer, but not my favorite. I could drink this all day as long as I'm not looking for major flavors or excitement.

ought as part of the Saranac 12 Beers of Summer mix pack ($11.99/12)

I must admit, this is one of my favorite overall styles and this one was by far the best in the 12 pack. The Saranack Adirondack Lager is also listed as a Pilsener but this is much better. Some nice fruity taste, well bodied, and highly carbonated which makes for a great beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a decent, creamy white head, good lacing. Aroma is of wheat, grass, a touch of pine hops and yeast. Flavor is crisp, light malts, and citrusy hops. It is very light bodied, lively mouthfeel, but a bit watery. Very drinkable, but not much substance (if that makes any sense?).

Bottle has cobalt blue label with standard "Saranac" in black on a gold field on the cap.

Pours a light honey color into weizen glass. About a quarter inch of thin white head leaves a bit of lacing throughout the drink. Smells of fruit, spices, some light hops, and berries. Mouthfeel is loose and refreshing with carbonation that enhances the medium body. Taste is of yeast, apple, a bit of hops at the finish, less than I expected. The only other pilsener I have ever tried was a Scrimshaw Pilsener shipped from the west coast, so its region may have influenced my view on the amount of hops required for a pilsener.

Best thing about this beer is appearance. After the head reduces to a cap, the active carbonation can be seen frothing up from the bottom of the glass at the surface. The color is exquisite. Everything else is fairly average.

Opaque, light "golden" body--effervescent throughout with a thick, pillowy head in a jever pokal... nice lacing as the glass's contents drain... soft, smooth pilsner malts... surprised at the labels' "wheat" nomenclature--don't quite see or smell that--soft pings of hops here and there--somewhat complex... crisp, dry palate, reminiscnet of a white wine in some respects... medium-bodied with some ending effervescence... little at the teeth to denote hops, and yet the slightly acidic burn--again, like a lesser wine--curbs and scrapes the end result... I had higher hopes for this pilsner, which straddles the American and European varieties into a muddled result, a pleasantly clean, tastebud-confusing blend...

Poured from a 12oz bottle (part of the Saranac summer beer 12pack) into a pilsener glass.

A - Golden with a good amount of carbonation. The pour produced a head of white foam that subsides into a thin spotty film. Spotty lacing throughout.

S - Slightly malty with fruity/herbal hop notes.

T - Slight malt taste followed with a nice citrus/spice hop finish.

MF&D - Crisp and refreshing. Overall I have to say I was very suprised with this beer. After reading some of the other reviews I was a little put off. There is nothing ground breaking here, just a good solid American Pilsener. Well done Saranac.

Sampled from Saranac's summer beer mixer pack. Golden color, relatively thick head and nice amount of lacing. Light-bodied and pretty refreshing, just not anything special. There is a slight hop bite but overall it could use a little more flavor. Still, not a bad sun beer.

a very clear pale gold, impressively clean looking... no head to speak of just some bubblin'... what little foam formed around the edges laces nicely though

smell is heavily malty with a slight earthy, grassy hop note

taste is robustly malty, herbal hop is more than just present along with some citrus flavor and bite at the finish... nothing amazing but nothing wrong

body is light to medium, its thin but oily on the tongue... id like some more carbonation to break that up but maybe i pulled an old bottle (plus it sat in the fridge for at least 3 weeks)?

very drinkable in a diverse range of settings... if i had to name a few: while half-heartedly contemplating quitting your shitty job (id go with something heavier if you are serious about it), before going to your shitty job, after coming home from your shitty job, and/or (provided there is no machinery involved) while at your shitty job

Poured into my trusty pils glass and received a golden body with decent head retention from lively carbonation. Great hop smell for a pils, at least in my experiences, a good burst of earth and citric notes in the smell. A hop burst on this medium-bodied beer with some citric tastes tucked in there and a somewhat dry afterfinish. I couldn't session this because it is a little simple and dried out my tongue a little, but a good beer that complements a hot August day perfectly.

The only other pilsner I've had is Old Dominions Beach House and this golden pilsner was a god compared to that.

Spicy hoppy flavor but not enough to cause a bit and make every drink hard. The light body makes it easier. It goes down very smooth. A crisp refreshing beer, and more so on a hot day.

I liked it, try it.

A - Pale golden straw color... Slight head... Nice lacing... Coats the glass extremely well for a pilsner... Very mild carbonation...

S - Nice floral aroma... Subtle apricot... hops... malt... wheat... slightly sweet...

T - Very light taste... No discernible tastes on the palette... Maybe the slightest of hops...

M - Llight... Carbonated and crisp... Not refreshing...

D - Nothing much to the Saranac offering... Looks good and smells good, but severely lacking otherwise...

12-ounce bottle poured into a pokal yields a clear golden body capped with a finger of soapy white foam that shrinks to a thin sheet and leaves thin, filmy streaks of lacing on the glass.

Smell is a bit fruity with a faint, but tangy resinous hop note.

Taste is crisp and a bit malty with the vague richness of soft wheat floating around in the profound wateriness that marks the character of this beer. A tingle of tartness keeps the beer from drowning in its own hydro-flavorlessness.

As drinkable as water can be.

Part of the Saranac "12 beers of summer" mix pack... 12 oz. bottle into a pilsener glass...

A: Pours a translucent deep gold. Good amount of carbonation, the beer is very active throughout the course of me drinking it. A snow white 2 finger head dissipate fairly quickly into a paper-thin patchy head. Very light globs of lacing on the glass.

S: Clean barley-adjunct malt. Spicy, earthyish, herbal hops. Also present is a healthy aroma of lager yeast and a hint of citric twang.

T: A crisp, light breadiness gives way to a malty sweetness. Sweetness is then balanced by a slight bite of hop bitterness. Beer finishes with a lingering slight bitterness, earthiness, and sweet malt. Hop character is a little lacking, but adequately balances the malt.

MF: Light and crisp, the very active carbonation of the brew enhances the crispness and bite, which helps balance this beer out.

D: Not at all a bad beer, certainly worthy. Pilseners face their toughest challenge in the malt vs. hops battle, and this one does a reasonably good job at resolving the battle, but without much character beyond the basics, which would make this beer really good. This would be a great beer to enjoy during the summer, or to wean friends off crappy American macro lagers.

Pours a true golden color with about 2 fingers thick of eggshell sticky head forming atop of my pilsner glass. A bit hazy possibly. bit pretty basic.

Rather mild aroma with some grainy malt & grassy hops popping through. (my allgergies are acting up a bit, so aroma is more difficult than normal).

Crisp, malty flavor comes through up front. A bit of earthy hops comes through, but pretty basic, crisp, flavored pilsner.

Feel is crispy and refreshing on a hot summer's day. Again, nothing earth-shattering; a bit of bitey carbonation hits right up front, but then again, it helps make this a refreshing beverage.

Very drinkable brew to be honest. If I had a choice between this Pilsner & a pilsner from an "un-named" Macro Brewery who claims they are America's favorite pilsner, I'd choose this one every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a very nice golden yellow color with a pretty nice white head that leaves a good amount of lacing. The aroma is pretty weak, with very faint grain and hops. The taste much like the aroma is pretty dull, with faint grain flavors and a very mild hop bite. Overall, Saranac Golden Pilsener is a pretty disappointing beer that I would not go back to. It is almost like an American Macro Lager with just a touch more in the hop department, but not much more.

Poured into a pilsner with a single finger head and a golden color. The head disappers quickly with no lacing. Smells faintly of hops and grain. Taste reminds me of an American macro lager with a little extra hop flavor. Mouthfeel is a little bitter but mostly watery and bland. Could be a very drinkable beer since it is very ight in body and flavor.

This beer poured a light copper color with a single-finger head that dissipated quickly. The smell is sweet malt with perhaps some wheat characteristics. I'm not really getting any of the "distinctive hop aroma that it claims on the bottle. The taste almost all malt with the a tiny bit of floral hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is pretty thin with a fairly aggressive amount of carbonation. This is a pretty drinkable if one-dimensional beer. I wouldn't expect to be blown away by it, but you could grab something worse from the fridge on a warm summer night.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into pilsner glass.

A - Clear golden with 2 finger head. Moderate retention and some lacing, falls to a thick collar.

S - Why is all this wheat in here? Dirty, sour, wheat malt aroma reminiscent of a bad American stab at a hefeweizen. Unpleasant metallic hops linger as well.

T - Sour wheat malt rides a wave of generic American macro taste. Mild spicy hops wrap up the finish with a touch of grassiness. Boring, bland, and a little weird.

M - Thin and highly carbonated, on point but nothing mindblowing.

D - When I think "pilsener," this is not what I have in mind. Easy enough to drink all night, but a bizarre take on a simple style. Can't ever see myself in the mood for this one.

Really not much to say here. These are the kinds of Pilseners which made think that I disliked the style. Turns out that this just doesn't represent the style. Where are the hops? Where is the floral character? It's hardly present.

It's still somewhat tasty & drinkable, but that's about it. Very lacking.
