This was a clear yellow ale that had a 3 inch head when I poured it into my pilsner glass. LOTS of lacing.

The aroma was of aromatic hops... mostly pine notes.

The taste was VERY bitter... tart, with pine notes and a slight amount of grapefruit-like citrus. The finish was long and bitter.

Mouthfeel was tart, astringent, and well bodied, perfect for a good IPA with a hop wallop.

The bitterness matched the mouthfeel... overall I was very pleased with this, the last of the three Saranacs I tried this night.

This one pours a mostly clear dirty orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like zesty citrus, grapefruit, toasted malt, marijuana, and some pine.

This is also much better than I expected – it’s a great grocery store IPA and a pretty good IPA in its own right, really. It’s not too malty, with just some light toastiness, and a pleasant refreshing grapefruity and piney bitterness. There’s a touch of dankness and a touch of tropical as well.

This is light bodied, with a smooth bitter finish that keeps you coming back for moe.

This is was really enjoyable, and a nice surprise from one of New York’s more old school breweries.

From the Throwback Series 12 pk. BB date : June 2023. Just showed up 10-12 days ago, so guessing that it's fairly fresh.
Used to drink a fair amount of this c.2002-2005, but have no memory of it, other than I enjoyed it enough to repeat often.

Medium gold, with 1/2 finger of white head.

Smell is pine, slightly bitter orange rind, and a hint of crackery malt. I.e. , basic, old-school IPA aroma. That's a pleasant sensation & memory.

Taste is slightly-dank pine, grass, and vague citrus rind/pith, that leans to orange. Drier than the aroma. Moderate bitterness.

Feel is medium, with moderate, fine carbonation tingle, with a slight extra bite on finish. Slight drying effect lingering after finish.

Overall , a nice throwback . An enjoyable break from the juicier modern types, and better than I remember it.
