This New York brew is an excellent value for IPA lovers. I get it by the 12-bottle box at local stores in Ithaca when it's on sale, which happens fairly regularly at sale price around $12. Such a super deal for a quality, albeit conservatively hopped ale!
Pour the bottle high into pint glass to make head reach all the way up to rim; bottles are maybe more carbonated than they need to be, so that foaming tames the fizz some.
Head settles fast, very clear amber in glass is what you'd expect from a filtered ale. Taste is clear too, easy to swallow mix of fairly conservative hop and light malt. Mouthfeel can be too fizzy if you don't make sure to pour high for tall head. Good clean aftertaste with some hop aroma up the nose.
When I'm drinking more than one beer, this is my favorite second or third, as it's got enough hops to satisfy, is not highly alcoholic, and sells for a real good price where I live. Also, I hate to pay for transporting beer on diesel truck wheels, and the Utica brewery is close enough for me to feel glad supporting local industry.
