Clean, pale gold beer pours from the glass, leaving a thin, off-white head that is well-retained. Pils malt lends typical aromas of bread and dough, with hints of grain and grass noticeable, and a decent amount of spicy hops as well. Bready flavors are met with grain and barley. The malt sweetness is tamed by the grassy and spicy hops in the finish. Light bodied, this pilsener is also moderately carbonated.

Part of the beers of winter 12 pack.
In a pilsner glass the beer was a gold color with a thick white head that left a good deal of lace.
It had a fresh, outdoors aroma. Floral. A little peppery in my nose.
Sweet bready taste, herbal hops.
Crisp mouthfeel.
Decent beer. Not the greatest Czech pilsner, but also not the worst.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass

Appearance: It had a small white head that slowly fades and leaves some nice lace behind on the glass. The body has a light pale golden color with crystal clarity and viable carbonation.

Smell: The aroma is light clean and simple with floral hop character.

Taste/Mouth feel: It has a crisp taste with a mild biscuity dry malt flavor and floral hops that bring pleasant bitterness. It finishes fairly clean with light bitterness. The palate is light to medium bodied with good carbonation and a vibrant texture.

Notes: This is a new brew for Saranac and a new addition to there Winter mixed 12 pack.

12oz brown bottle no freshness date though it was part of their winter 12-pack 10'-11'.

Substantial amount of foam from a firm decanting, crystal clear pale golden color. Oily hop nose; herbal and spicy with a dried grass maltiness in the back. Some crispness in the lighter bitty mouth feel. Spicy hops meet a dried grassiness that comes off a little sweet. Oily hop is pretty interesting, the malt I expect to be more crisp and all the way dry.

While this brew might be clean and lager-like it does not resemble the pilseners I have had over the years ... decent but one bottle was more than enough.

First of the winter sampler. It seems that I may have already been gifted my first present of the season; as the 12 pack winter sampler was mis-priced at 8.99. I let the owner know about his mistake and offered to pay full price, but he let me slide. Whoot!

Firm pour yields a minimal quarter inch head that vanishes like a parlor trick, leaving behind some wispy white tendrils along the edge of the glass. No lace, color is a very pale yellow.

Nose- light pepper and spice some straw. Not much going on.

Palate- Very light and refreshing, tang of hops in the finish. Lemon rind mildly dances across the palate. Finishes dry with a light caramel flavor. Very refreshing, although, in my opinion somewhat out of place for a winter sampler.

Mouthfeel- tangy, and dry.

Drinkability- This would be a great lawn mower beverage.

Nice beer although not entirely memorable.

Standard yellow appearance with average clarity to it, crisp clean white head. Smelled of noble and saaz hops would be my guess. Nothing skunky.

Bummer, I like skunky, wasn't in the taste either. Rather plain, high carbonation excentuated the hopping and a prickly feeling, but substantive taste profile was lacking. Light mineral and grain mouthfeel. Bitterness is up. Whats the deal, they can't hop an ipa or pale to save their life, but here, they get it right, almost to the point of being on the high end, but I guess I shouldn't complain, just pointing out a weird phenomenon.

Appears a pale straw colored golden hue with a bright white head, forms thick and dwindles slowly leaving thin speckled lacing all around my glass. Mild sweetness with biscuit pilsner malt and lemongrass light zesty hop spice character flowing together. Flavors have a crisp sweetness with ample bitterness, very solid mix of malt and hops. Not an over the top Czech pils, but if this sold in sixpacks it would be really popular. More zesty hops with light lemongrass citrus hop qualities and balancing light toasted malts. Mouthfeel is light bodied, with refreshingly crisp carbonation. Drinkability is solid all around easy going hoppy pils, very enjoyable.

Aroma: citrusy Saaz hops work with bright, alluring malts--smells straight out of Eastern Europe... Appearance: swiftly effervescent, light golden body that rushes up the flute to stimulate a webbing three-finger white head... Palate: medium-bodied, slightly oily at the throat but substantial enough to be a lager... Taste: flavorful, zesty hops that awaken the tongue; refreshingly smooth, with the slightest hint of corn or hay; some banana and clove as well... Overall: pleasant, softly buffering pilsner--definitely a seasonal that I will seek out in its season...

12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Smith 12 oz. nonic.

Appearance: Light straw yellow, very light straw yellow, with an immediately fluffy white head that dissipates quickly, then settles with some raindrops on the side.

Smell: Light grass, herbal, and citrus notes. Not much else, but those are there.

Taste: Hints of grass, bitterness, herbal earthiness, citrus, and mildly lingering grapefruit in the end.

Mouthfeel: Very light-bodied with extremely spritzy and carbonated water-type carbonation.

Drinkability: Not undrinkable, not a beer I'd be happy to return to, unless someone had it as a lawnmower brew and offered me one.

Pours a pale gold with a good amount of soft, white head that has great retention. The nose is grassy with a faint malt note. The taste is malty up front and slightly sweet, and then the Saaz hops come in and add balance and a nice earthy, grassy finish. This is a light bodied, well carbonated, very smooth beer.

This is a pretty good beer. It's brewed to style so nothing exceptional here, but it's smooth and balanced. The slight sweetness is really the only drawback.

pours clear golden, looks like a standard beer flavored beer. aroma has a nice hop spice to it, with light grains and grass.

light in body and flavor but has a nice compliment of hops to make it just flavorful enough to enjoy.

nice mouthfeel, crisp with a little spice. easy drinking beer good alternative to macros if you want something good thats not too intense.

Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz bottle, part of a winter brew pack.

Appearance: Pale golden brew with an impressive pure white head that laces nicely.

Smell: Very crisp, refreshing smell. A hint of citrus or fruit behind a mostly grain forefront.

Taste: Crisp, tastes much like it smells. Nice taste.

Mouthfeel: A decent taste... a bit nippy. Very much a "refreshing" taste... not something usually seen in a pilsner.

Drinkability: Decent beer. Not what you'd expect in a winter brew mix pack, but a change is good. Not my favorite pilsner, but not a bad beer by any means.

Review from notes

Pours honey colored with one finger of pearl colored head. Above average lacing & average head retention

S: Canned corn & grassy hops

T: Grassy hops, slight floral & lemony hops, plus breadyness up front. Leafy hops come through as this warms. Finishes crisp with a slight metallic twang & grainyness

MF: Medium bodied, grainy with moderate carbonation

Drinks easy, not a bad take on the style

Pour into a pils glass, the pils is a fairly pale straw color with some lazy bubbles floating to the top. Pure white head that left a wall of lacing around the glass.

The aroma is not very strong. Some light cracker like malt. Don't really pick up any saaz hops.

The flavor is of a cracker like malt which is correct for the style but is seems a touch light. The hops are pretty much nowhere to be found and that is a disappointment. Perhaps a touch of lime citrus that can be found in nobel hops, but I am reaching.

The feel is light but not watery, well carbonated, quite crisp. It is very light on the palate with a subtle bitterness that makes the beer very balanced and easy to drink.

The flavor is a disappointment but the feel and drinkability is spot on. I would never seek this beer out but I have no issues drinking it.

Pours a light straw color with a small white foamy head on top. Smells of bready malts with a bit of an earth tone, also a slight floral scent from the hops.

Taste is crisp and smooth, the malts are there but not quite what you expect, a little lighter in taste. The hops are barely noticed at first but lingers slightly on the back end. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing.

Overall a light and refreshng beer, just seems a little too light, makes it a bit watery. Not too bad though!

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some grains. Taste is crisp, grains are present, a touch of hops, not bad but nothing special. Feels light in the mouth and has good drinkability. Overall this is a fairly average beer.
