Notes/Commercial Description:
Saranac Blueberry Blonde Ale is a traditional blonde ale with a kick of juicy blueberry. You'll notice a light golden haze from wheat malt and oats and a low hop bitterness, which really shows off the fruit. With a medium-light body and fresh blueberry flavor, we're sure we've captured refreshment in a bottle!

A: A medium gold with some haze and a slight purple hue. The head is long lasting, white and made of a small, rocky bubble.

S: Moderately-strong blueberry aroma with a light citrus hops and a moderate malt sweetness. There is a bit of a metallic aroma. No diacetyl.

T: There is the initial soft malty sweetness typical of a Blonde with a moderately-low hop bitterness. The moderate blueberry flavor doesn't overpower the ale. The balance is slightly bitter with a dry finish and a lemony aftertaste.

M: This beer has a moderately-light body with moderately-strong carbonation. There is a slight prickle at the tip of the tongue.

O: An easy to drink lawnmower type ale with some blueberry flavor and a fair amount of aroma. The fruit isn't so strong that it would stop me from having another on a hot day.

A-cloudy and not as bubbly as most ales

S-Great, but only because i love blueberries

T-Kind of sour but cant expect much from an ale

M-Leave a dry taste in my mouth.

Good beer. Good for after dinner but not an all night beer. ABV only 5%. I prefer higher apv ratings

12oz bottle at fridge temp.

pours a hazy slightly deep golden color, a nice layer of some tight white head with decent retention. some nice lace as well.

interesting aroma. on first whiff, the blueberrys are definatly there, but as it warms the aroma takes of a berry fruit juice type of smell that gets a little odd and footy sometimes . hints of grain behind and not much else.

seems to be just the right amount of blueberry flavor with some crisp grain and wheat to balance. finishes crisp, light, and refreshing with a nice dose of blueberry juice flavor that lingers. a nice crisp carbonation.

a nice summer drinker with just enough fruit to please anyone, but a little boring for the real beer nerd.

Labeled as the Blueberry Blonde the label suggests that there's wheat malt and oats, a bit cloudy golden orange in appearance. Head forms thick about 3 inches billowing with texture, fine speckled lacing left behind. Aroma has earthy hints of blueberry notes, not overtly sugary just a hint of earthy herbal blueberry notes. Flavor has a bitter stem, leafy quality about it along with the wheat malt and oats to soften things up a bit. It's not the overtly sugar experience you may be looking for in a beer like Leinenkugel's. Mouthfeel is creamy soft and well carbonated the type of beer that works for the summer months. I didn't feel it weighed too heavy, had enough flavor to keep me interested, but I feel competing with the big boys with blueberry beers and shandys isn't the way to go now, Saranac has always paved it's own way...know it's making White IPAs, Blueberry Blondes, and Shandys...WTF. It's a Sam Adams, AB, Miller/AB head to head competition with Saranac.

Big white to slightly off white head slowly falls into a nice lacing above a clearish honey golden colored beer.

Fresh warm blueberry muffins aroma with just a bit of some pale hops sneaking in.

A light blueberry muffin like taste with some lesser hops notes.

A light dry aftertaste with those same blueberry muffin tastes sticking around on this light bodied drink from Matt Brewing.

As far as fruit/vegetable beers go this is a pretty good one, the taste of the blueberries is big but not overbearing and artificial tasting like a lot of beers in this style.

12oz bottle poured into a goblet. No dating on the bottle

A: Pours a hazy straw color with a foamy 2 finger head. Lots of visible carbonation.

S: Fruity blueberry aroma. Hints of wheat and malt.

T: Pretty similar to the smell. Hits you with some blueberry before smoothing out with a malt aftertaste. Not as blueberry dominated as others of this style can be.

M: Light on the palette, good carbonation. Drinkable.

Overall not a bad beer. Blueberry beers can be quite iffy. This one isnt overpowering and is refreshing.

Date Rated: May 4, 2013... Glassware: nondescript pint... Occasion: slowing down after a long week... Appearance: slightly hazy pale blond ale with tremendous effervescence; thick and thin bubbles stream skyward to a thick white head--great lacing... Aroma: fragrant, candied blueberry scent; appropriate to the bottle's label... Palate: rather smooth start with little bite; rather diminished and rinselike in the finish... Taste: somewhat malty, with soft hops that do not balance well; odd fruity esters ensue with a mostly plain American pilsner profile... Overall: as novelties go, the fruit beers refresh and remind me of the German/Bavarian traditions with authentic additives--this beer seems to follow that tradition distantly, without the prerequisite fruit or lightness....

A - dark gold; lots of carbonation rising to the top; half of an inch of pure white, foamy head; quickly fades to a thin lacing

S - blueberries, straw, grain, grassy, sweet

T - grainy, grassy, light blueberry finish, sweet but not overly so, a bit warm

M - smooth, light to medium bodied, despite the high amount of carbonation bubbles the actual carbonation is rather moderate

Not a bed beer. It's rather warm for a fruit or blonde ale. It's not overly sweet and it's easily drinkable, but it's simplistic and ultimately forgettable. It is a nice change of pace in the Saranac Summer Mix Pack.

A- pours goldish and hazy with a bubble and fizzy white head with decent retention

S- smells like blueberry muffins with a bit of sweet malt to balance it out

T- sweet, with a crisp malt backbone, subtle blueberry with a slightly tart & dry finish

M- light body with low carbonation, foamy mouthfeel and slick finish, high drinkability

O- a basic fruit beer that isn't extreme by any means, but a good option of the beach, which is where I enjoyed it. Not their best beer, but certainly drinkable
