poured from 12 oz bottle into flared pilsener glass

a- beautiful dark golden picturesce body with some visable carbonation on the swirl. nice dense head lasted long and left solid but thin rings of lacing.

s- complex hoppy backbone with some sweet fresh malt on the tail end. earthy, fresh.

t- taste is similar to smell. complex hops. only pleasantly bitter. perfectly balanced.

m- perfect balance between drinkability and light body. not overly carbonated.

d- excellent. i cant wait to get my hands on more of this stuff. i must say this was totally unexpected to get a perfect 5 out of a mixed six pack of saranac. wow. an awesome overall beer.

Aroma from the freshly opened bottle: malts, maybe even some spice.

Aroma after the pour: breads, yeast

The Saranac Adirondack Lager pours into a tall pils glass producing a healthy, tan-colored, quick rising head. The head settles back to a 1/2 inch thick layer of foam, resting on the pale gold brew, and leaving a generous amount of lacing.

This German Pilsener opens with a sweet malt flavor and transitions to its hops roots quite nicely. In fact, hops lovers will love the hop presence in this lager ... it distinguishes it from all other run-of-the-brewery lagers.

The mouthfeel is crisp with a good amount of carbonation and medium gravity. Nice presentation.

This is not one of your Daddy's crappy old lagers! Saranac balances the elements and has produced a truly fine product here; extremely drinkable, with a lot of "personality" in the taste and in the body of the brew. THIS IS A HOP LOVERS LAGER!

A - This one would get a higher rating if the head lasted on it. Good amber, honey color, and poured with a decent head. But the head went away in under a minute. The light ring around the glass does leave a little lacing though.

S - Great smell. Floral hops come through, and a malty smell as well, not perfectly balanced, but pretty close.

T - Taste is very good, what I expect from a lager. Hops are there, don't have the overpowering taste or bitterness that you want in a pale ale or ipa , but they shouldn't here. They give the beer a grat floral taste and slight bitterness. Malts balance well here and don't give any specific flavor to overpower the beer. Serve as only a balancing agent.

M - Good mouthfeel. Perfect level of carbonation on this one for my taste at least. Gives the beer a full body, but not fizzy. Not overly heavy and also not watery. Really can't picture a better feel than this one.

D - Very drinkable, a great session beer.

This isn't my favorite beer, but on terms of style, this beer is excellent. Probably one of the best you can get for this price. A Great beer.

Got this in the mixed Saranac sixer. Pours a crystal clear slightly dark gold. Very small head present, disappears quickly, leaves little lacing. Smells really sweet. I smell honey, apples, some citrus.

Great mouthfeel on this one. Very creamy and smooth. Not watery like some brews of this style are. Some slight hop bite to this. It's faint, but it's there. Malt is the main player, but not overly so. This is a really well-done beer in my mind. This would be my new session lager if I could find it in a 6-pack here. Recommend.

Another winner from Saranac. This may be their best all-around beer. It's the malts, they're terrific and distinctive in every beer they brew. Matt Brewers expertly straddle the divide between old-time classic American lagers and the recent microbrew explosion. This example is such a well rounded beer that it is suitable for almost anything. Heftier than a golden lager, piney hops that make it refreshing, sweet caramel malts to deepen the flavor... it's all good, and I like it.

I guess most people on this site don't like giving this inexpensive and unflashy beer enough credit. No, it is not in some fancy bottle. No, the smell will not knock you over. And no, it doesnt look like its the nectar of the gods. But the taste, aftertaste, cost, and chug-ability of this beer is world class. Saranac attributes much of the wonderful taste of this beer to the water its uses from the Adirondacks. If thats true, and I believe it is, we should be buying bottled water of that stuff. The taste is super smooth, balanced, mild, and has a great aftertaste. This is the Michael Jordan of Lagers in the class of Acura's and Audi's. This beer is easy to drink, and tastes great on tap or in a bottle. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to have more than 3 beers tonight.

Pours clean and clear, with a solid amber hue that is much richer than a typical American lager's.

Smells grainy with a clear hint of hops.

Tastes smooth and crisp. Only once have I had a bad experience with this beer - usually it's perfect on-tap, but one draft I had took on a slightly metallic taste.

The beer is the perfect complement to a summer bbq. Despite its light mouthfeel, the beer is surprisingly heavy. One or two compliments a meal nicely.

Serving notes - 0.5L german glass, cellar temp
A - Nice solid malt nose.
A - got a nice four fingers of foamy white head on the pour. Pretty decent retention. Nice amber color.
M - light to medium body, medium carbonation.
T - Same malt from the aroma with a light malt sweetness. Very clean flavor with some pleasant lingering sweetness on the tongue. Some very light noble hop taste.
D - This is a great lager and one that I could easily use as a session beer or a gateway beer for a BMC friend.

I think saranac is underrated. Im drinking this out of the adirondack trail mix. I remember loving it when i was younger, and upon returning to it, i am surprised to find that it is just as good as i remember. the adirondack pack is great, versatile, and pleasantly lacking in fruit and wheat beers (the bane of my existence.

I am eating a homecooked slider with habaneros and pickles, this crisp clean bubbly yet rich adirondack lager hits the spot just right.
Thanks Saranac

Pours clear, light amber color with very little head that dissipates quickly. No lacing. A somewhat bitter, nutty flavor.

Light amber in color, some malty, wheaty notes on the aroma, decent head and some light lacing. Malt dominated, underlying sweetness, dry hops detected, nice toasty and wheaty taste throughout. Medium bodied, quite tasty and enjoyable, one of the Matt Brew Co's best offerings.

Not bad. Nice golden color is typical of ambers. Pleasant hop and two row malt flavor make this brew very refreshing and quite drinkable.

an all around, well balanced, good for anytime beer. Has a sweet aroma and creamy head that holds very well. Carbonation is medium and carries a nice body with substance but not any real heaviness that would make the fifth or sixth one less enjoyable than the first one or two. Piny tasting Hops are prominent in the taste but strikes a perfect balance with the mellowness of the malts. yet another saranac winner!!!
cheers!

A - Pours a clear amber color with frothy head and a bit of lacing
S - smell is very floral and quite enjoyable
T - taste is predominantly floral hops with some very light bready malt
M - medium to light bodied (medium for the style) with a crisp finish
D - very drinkable, could easily go for at least 3 of them

I'm not huge into lagers (although there are quite a few I definitely love, I get more excited about ales) but the floral presence in this one makes it a keeper. Smell reminds me of a nice scotch ale (not in taste though) minus the alcohol. Very nice.

Goldish/amber in color, off-white head that seems content to loiter on top of the brew. A bit of a caramel maltiness to the aroma.

Caramel flavors carry over into the tastes as well, ending with a smooth blend of hop bitterness and a toasted characteristic. Crisp and smooth.

A little different than a typical Amber, I think. Good flavor, just a bit different than most of the Ambers out there.

Saranac Adirondack Lager brewed by Matt Brewing Company with an ABV of 5.5% This brew pours out a dark amber color with a thick, white head. The smell is sweet and rich. You also pick up on some grains. The smell is really inviting. As far as the taste goes it is bold with flavor. You pick up on some sweetness and grains. This brew has a nice balance to it. There is nothing over powering in this brew. Saranac Adirondack Lager goes down smooth and has a nice taste to it. It also has a nice clean finish. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4.25 out of 5

Poured into a nonic glass,a nice golden color with a reddish hue. A 1" head, dissapated a bit quick.a few tiny bubbles rising to the top,a little more livelyness would have been nice, still not a bad looking beer.
The smell was moderate, very clean, aromas of light citrus, floral, spicey and caramelly. A very pleasing aroma.
The taste was caramelly, citrusy, nutty, nicely balanced, clean and crisp.A bit lacking, but still very good.
A lightmouthfeel,with a pleasing bitterness with a mouthwatering finish.
Excellent drinkability, goes down very easy, not very filling.A very pleasing quality to this beer, could easy drink this all night.
A couple of steps above a Macro not quite a Mico, somewhere inbetween. An excellent session beer. A beer for the masses, not offensive, just a bit more.
