Easy access from 33, about 1 mile from the highway. But the selection doesn't warrant a stop, this store is only worth a stop if you're local to it. Meager pickings, some Hoppin Frog (2 choices), Great Lakes (several), Brooklyn (a couple), Flying Dog, and so on. Mostly USA craft beers that are easily available everywhere in Ohio, a few European imports but nothing outstanding there either.

This isn't a bad store by any means, but it doesn't warrant a stop on the way through town (unless you're there for a stay anyway). Guess I expected better, there used to be an incredible store in Ann Arbor called Bello Vino, and this Athens establishment sounded so similar...

Stopped in on my way to Jackie O's the last time I was passing by Athens. This small shop is located on Stimson which is off Rte 50 on the way in to the OU campus. There is a small private lot.

Inside the beer is conveniently located in coolers right near the entrance. There is a smaller cooler right by the door that appears to have more seasonal selections, while the remaining space is devoted to bombers and six packs. There are many regional brewers like GLBC and Bell's along with other domestic micros from Brooklyn, Southern Tier, Stone, Bear Republic and more. As for imports there is representation from the UK, Germany, Belgium and others.

Service was very friendly on a late weekday morning. The shopkeep was well-versed in the beers and was helpful.

Overall I see no reason not to stop in here on any future visit to Athens.

I've submitted two change requests, one just today to get the name changed on this review.

Owner and staff are generally quite knowledgeable and very friendly. This store at first glance appears to be all wine, but turn to your right as you enter the door and the beer smacks you in the face.

Good selection of seasonals, regulars and specialty brews. Lili (owner) will take your order and get you whatever she can if it is available... she works hard to keep happy customers and rarely disappoints. When ordering, it's best to order online because there will be a record of it in their computer.. but if you order in person and they just take a note, sometimes it gets lost and you won't get your order on time (or at all if it's a limited brew).

I ordered Founders KBS and she really worked her distributor to get some when none was allotted for this part of the state.

Now known as BellaVino.

Stopped here on the recommendation of friend during a recent beer run to the Athens area. Seems primarily focused on wine, but their is a substantial beer selection nonetheless. And the beer that they do have is top notch. We were greeted by a pyramid of Hopslam upon entering.

Selection tends to lean more towards 750's and bombers, with some six packs available. They also have about half a cooler of singles available to buy on their own or to use to build a six pack.

Service is very friendly and helpful. While I had minimal interaction, the lady working when I went in seemed to know her stock.

This is my favorite place in town. It is primarily a wine shop...it is called Bella Vino after all, but the beer selection is great. They have been expanding their selection and try to get in rarities that make it to Ohio, if they can. (The service in here is great and I'm not just saying that because Tom is my neighbor.)

No one looks at you like you have 3 heads if you ask about something they don't have. Everyone here will take down what you are looking for and try to order it. It's awesome. They keep everything neat and clean. Seriously, this is one of my bigger complaints, so it is nice to see things organized and easy to navigate here.

You can also go next door for some good Chinese food when you are done!

I never know if I should review based on the other places in the area or based on the best place I could imagine in my mind. This is easily where to go if you are in Athens.

Great place to pick up a sixer or a bomber of some top notch craft beer. The Belgian selection has been getting better and better. Easy to find a collection of beers from Weyerbacher, Ommegang, Bear Republic, Bells, and Stone. Belgians include Orval, Duvel, Chimay, and others. Service is pretty good, try to catch Tom if you go there in the evening, he can always make a nice selection. In athens this is hands down the best place to pick up a great brew. The bomber selection changes frequently. Wine selection is nice aswell.

I stopped in on my way home from a job after reading about this place on BA. There was a temporary sign covering the original, indicating that it was under new ownership.
It is a small store and appears to focus more on wine than beer but the beer selection was not bad.
Real beer lovers would be able to find a sixer or bomber of a satisfying brew in most any category but just not as many choices.
I did picked up a sixer of Steelhead Double IPA from Mad River Brewing that I have not seen in many of my normal stops that carry a lot bigger selection.
The next time I am in the area I will stop in and see if the new ownership has improved the beer selection.
