Had this on tap at the bar last Friday night.
A. Very dark brown. Small quarter inch head that faded quickly. Left good lacing. Almost looked like a Pepsi.
S. Not as strong as most Doppelbocks. I smelled a little bit of sweet carmel scents. I also smelled alcohol.
T. A very sweet roasted malt flavor dominates. The alcohol is also very prevalent. Almost too much so. Also some dried fruitiness.
M. Burning alcohol. Not nearly carbonated enough.
D. I was really looking forward to tasting this beer and it was a huge letdown. Their website said that it is 9% not 8% like this website states. Whatever it is they don't hide the alcohol at all. I almost tastes like someone poured a shot of whisky into a glass of beer.

Appearance: Dark brown body with shades of brown and red when held to light. Head is tight, thin, tan, and very clean (no lacing). Not much head retention either. Looks very slick.
Smell: Hard to get anythign out of this one. After some huge whiffs, I got some alcohol and lager yeast.
Taste: Cocoa powder, lager yeast, toffee/caramel, and LOTS of alcohol. Aftertaste is more of the same: lots of dry alcohol with thints of cocoa and caramel.
Mouthfeel: Slick and warm. Minimal carbonation, medium body, and a very dry finish.
Drinkability: For all of it's downfalls, I still wouldn't mind getting this again. I got the feeling that maybe their were some more flavors hiding in there that I just wasn't picking up. Still, this is a pretty tough drink.
