Decided to give this place a try since I had some time to kill in Fresno. The place has lots of wood in the construction and granite counter-tops at the bar. It is fairly comfortable and nice inside but leaning more towards a sports bar. The beer selection was pretty decent--offering up ten flagship beers, three seasonals, and some bud light. I tasted 5 of their beers but was disappointed by a lingering detergent smell on the glassware. Out of 5 beers, 2 of them (General Sherman IPA and Scotch Pine Wee Heavy) were so soapy smelling that it really took away from the quality of their beer. I brought this to the bartender's attention and he graciously listened to my constructive criticism on making sure the glasses were rinsed thoroughly. I am not sure how he really took it. But, because of it, I have no desire to go back to taste soapy beers. I hope they get their glassware clean.

Sequoia Brewing does a good job of making good food and good beer. I don't think I would ever purchase their beer outside of Fresno, though, as it is simply "good", not "great". I think they do a decent job at marketing but could certainly do a better one.

This is a good brewpub in the tower district of Fresno. Overall, the place itself is very nice inside, with big windows along the front, a nice warp-around bar in the inside wall of the L-shaped interior. It has nice booths, plus tables along the windows and in the middle, nice brick wall, and a good view of the brewing facilities from the dining area.

Service is effective and very friendly.

Beer is overall good, selection is very good and far better than one often finds, with a large selection of standard beers on tap, plus a large rotating selection. However, of the few I have had when visiting here, most were fairly pedestrian and simple, except the porter, which was very good.

Food is mixed. Fried are not very good, but sandwiches, burgers, and salads are good. I might modify this after more visits.

My main complaint is that the beer always comes too much on the cold side and in chilled glasses. One must let it warm up to get the full character.

Tower district location (Olive st). Nice place. Nice people. 2nd time here this year-same staff, that's always a good sign. 8-10 house beers w/ a few taps to appease the masses (budlite, wyders). Had a few specials drafts up: jacob marley BW and sasquach imp choc stout. Big place, 20 seat bar, a dozen or so booths in the main room, plus a 16 seat tall "community" table. There's another large room off to the side with a dozen more 4-tops. Folksy decor-old snow working equipment, a stuffed goat's back half. Only about a mile & a half off the 99, worthwhile detour. Cheers!

Was living in Bakersfield at the time and was working on a project in Fresno. We made it to this place one night for dinner, I believe at the time they were having all you can eat fish and chips on a thursday.

Anyways, fish and chips were good, especially for the price.

We also ordered up a beer sampler. I remember two beer specifically standing out, one was an Apple Wheat which I thought was very good and the other was the General Sherman IPA which was another great beer, I don't remember the other too well as this was roughly two year ago.

Good place (especially for the Central Valley), check it out.

Everything was going fine until we asked the guy for water and ketchup...

To start at the beginning, this place is set up like a sports bar with a few booths except you can see brewing equipment through a glass window against one wall. The beers they offered were pretty standard: a pale ale, an amber, a stout, a porter, etc. etc. The food menu was substantial and filled with many options, however my girlfriend and I simply settled on some fried artichoke hearts and fried pickles. You know, health food. The service was excellent up until this point. We were promptly seated, (or rather, told to sit anywhere), our beers were delivered quickly, and our food order was taken in no time. My girlfriend, not being a slow drinking BA, finished her beer before our fried food arrived and asked the waiter for some water and ketchup (she's vegan and couldn't eat the ranch). We then proceeded to watch our waiter wander around for a few minutes, start doing some paperwork involving the cash register at the bar, finish that and move to another register at the end of the room, then wander back behind the bar and start watching TV. Now don't get me wrong. This waiters actions has little impact on my overall score of the establishment, and I know sometimes people can be forgetful, but it was hilarious watching this guy literally say "Do you need anything else? Sure I'll be right back with your water and ketchup," and then spend ten minutes doing other things only to end up staring at the TV. Needless to say, we hollered him down and he quickly and apologetically gave us what we wanted and comped my girlfriends drink. Overall, I would go back here or to their other location. Some of their beer is better than others, but it's not bad considering what Fresno has to offer. Swing by if you're in town.

Cruised in here for the first time this afternoon.

Atmosphere: In terms of seating, it's slightly larger than the Champlain location. Feels a bit like a local piza joint, which isn't any sort of problem; but, the Champlain location feels a bit classier. Brewing equipment can be seen behind the glass next to the bar. Several TVs up on the walls. As with the Champlain location, a very friendly crowd, though possibly more diverse here than there.

Quality: More taps and nitro-taps than the Champlain location, and NO icey pint glasses. Booths were comfortable and more numerous than other locale.

Service: Similar to Champlain, staff is more of a younger crowd. All were very friendly and chatty. One waiter told us the story of the man who ate "The Mighty Yeti" in 1 minute 14 seconds. Not only were the waiters and waitresses charming, they were also speedy. Never had any mixed up orders either.

Selection: Selection looks a bit bigger than the Champlain taproom, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're actually the same size. I like how they always have 2-4 seasonals available on top of the regular seven or eight.

Food: Got to try some of my bud's Yeti and garlic fries. Very tasty, though food is standard pub fare.

Stopped in here for dinner while staying in town prior to heading to Yosemite the next day. Small wraparound bar and several tables. Brewing equipment visible through a window next to the bar. Crowd seemed to be mostly locals in to watch Fresno State playing in the college world series.
Service was very good, our waiter quick, friendly, and very attentive to our needs. Beer and food however were average at best. I had a club sandwich and my wife a chicken salad which were decent but nothing fantastic. The General Sherman IPA I had was mediocre compared to most IPAs- very harsh bitterness to it.

Stopped in here for a late weekday lunch on a road trip from California to Texas. Service was friendly and quick.

For food, I had the Gilroy pizza while my wife had the Mark Twain sandwich and garlic fries. The pizza was decent while the sandwich and fries were above average. We tried the sampler for the beers.

From what the waitress told us, Sequoia offered their beers as well as MotoBrew, which is a beer they brew for a third party (the story was not entirely clear but involved a race car driver).

Unfortunately the beers were fairly average except for the porter, which was quite tasty. After our meal we ordered a pint glass and a six pack of the porter to take with us. It was not until Albuquerque when we checked the beer in the six pack and found it was not the porter but the MotoBrew Black Lager...

Overall it is worth a trip but be sure to check your beer if you get any to go.
