Small bar in the downtown area of Wilmington that is apparently the oldest bar in town. The bar is on the left as you walk in, an internet jukebox on the right, and a couple pool tables in back.

We hit it up early in the afternoon so it was rather quiet in there. I would say they only had around 50 beers or so and not the 200 that another review mentioned. We had beers from Samuel Smith, Tilburg, Magic Hat, and Highland.

The bartender was pretty clueless about the beer and basically didn't even seem familiar with what was in the cooler. If you want to pour your beer you'll be drinking out of a plastic cup.

A cool little place for what it is, an old school dive bar with a selection of beer that goes beyond the Sam Adams, Heineken, etc.

I very locals spot for a long time. It's a cornerstone of the downtown drinking scene in Wilmington. There's really not anything great or specific about the place, but there's still a good vibe there. Most nights it seems like it's the downtown "biker bar," but it's always been friendly when I've been there.

My favorite aspect of Barbary Coast is the hook & ring game they have set up out back. For those who don't know, it's nothing more than a ring tied to a string, and you swing it and try to get it around a hook on the wall. It's simple, cost about 35 cents to make, and can entertain you for hours.
