Poured from bottle to Sam Adams glass.

A - Plenty of bright white head. Light and clear gold color. Looks refreshing. Some carbonation.

S - Smells malty. Maybe a little biscuity, possibly some citrus.

T - Strikes me as very similar to Shiner Bock, one of my more regular brews. Nothing really stands out, however.

M - Very smooth and easy to drink. Not too heavy and not too light – a good choice as a medium beer. Slightly bitter aftertaste.

Summary - A decent beer overall. Good for parties with guests who prefer something other than the lighter junk out there. Not a bad beer, and one I would drink on occasion, but is basically a clone of Shiner Bock, so I'll probably stick with that.

This is a clear brassy bear with little head. It smells of sweet grain and light fruit. It has a musty grain, Imperial Pilsner kind of taste that puts it on the brighter and cleaner side of the malt liquor spectrum. There is a slight fruitiness and just a touch of hop bitter before it is pushed out again by grain sweetness. There is a slight twang in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium weight and the beer is pretty flat. It is an alright beer, and if you are looking for a beer with alot of booze that you can't taste, this is it for sure. I'm just not into this as maibock.

The beer pours a golden orange color with a small white head. The aroma is a mix of bready malt with a little bit of sweetness. It smells about like you expect a helles bock to smell like.

The flavor is a also very malt. There is a little bit of alcohol present and some sugary sweetness. I also get a little bit of citrus and grassy notes, possibly from the hop combination.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not a great beer, but not undrinkable by any means.

Sort of sunset orange that fades a little lighter toward the bottom and edges of the glass. No head, no cap and no lacing whatsoever. Couldn't even agitate to make it happen. But there is plenty of visible carbonation, so it's not dead.

Not much on the scent. Slight cola and medicinal qualities. After much agitation, a faint and quite undesirable (in my opinion) sour scent makes its way to the surface.

A bit grainy and bready. Nothing special here.

Really strong carbonation bite. It pretty much overpowers everything else. Very remeniscent of a soda. Easily the most carbonated (or maybe I should say over-carbonated) beer I've ever had. Slightly bitter on the finish and aftertaste. It is, however, pretty impressive that the high ABV is so well hidden. I didn't catch a hint of it at all.

No reason to want another of these. Plus the 8% ABV really sneaks up on you. I guess that could be one reason to have another, but I'll pass.

Pours a deep golden, looking almost pils-ish. Smell is pretty clean and all toasted grain - not a lot to say about it.

In the mouth, light and effervescent, with an obvious toasty side, then a slight, slight sweet-malt undertone and a sort of honeyed aftertaste. Not picking up a whole lot of hop... maybe a touch of bitterness in that finish, maybe some mild floral stuff... Puckering dry finish.

Well... it's wayyy easy to drink for an 8% ABV beer, and you could hurt yourself if you're not careful. I might recommend this as a gateway brew - there are certainly no off flavors, but this is probably Rahr's weakest effort.

thanks to assurbanipaul for yet another Rahr Brew.
Golden yellow with a full white head that melts to a quarter inch covering of sticky lacing. Very thick.
Aromas are pale amber malts and lager yeasts.
I'm drinking this while eating a grilled shrimp cocktail and the sweet fruitiness melts to a lemon citrus hops absolutely perfectly for my lunch.
Somewhere there is supposed to be 8% ABV in here but I definitely can't notice it...at least not in the tast or swallow.
Mouthfeel is moderately creamy.

Props to Rick Sawyer-Team sinister BIF race 2008 for this bottle!

A nice shimmering gold color with big carbonation, many quick moving bubbles rush to the surface and creates a 2" high, thin, lively white crown that dissipates pretty fast with all of the carbonation action.

The nose is very sweet, caramel-like malt scent, maple butter spread, overlly ripe and sour red fruits like red grapes and raspberries with a bit of tangy wheat.

The flavor is much more earthy and herbalized than the aroma will lead you to believe. It's a clean wheat flavored malt...slightly "malt liqour" like in the sweetness with a sour and tangy yeast bite and a mellow, earthy hop balance. The malt is really heavy in this one.

light look, medium feel, crispy bite thanks to the carboantion but finishes round and dry.

This one was very "all over the map" in flavor and aroma, and was a unique experience.

Got this in a PIF from GregSVT. Thanks brother!

Appearance - poured into a Rahr Ugly Pug Pint Glass a clear gold color with a thin creamy half inch of white foam. A closer look shows lots of tiny stuff in suspension.

Aroma - nice grain bread smell. Not overwhelming but pleasant

Taste - Very water and a bit sour ... very acidic. Was not expecting the sourness from this style and did not leave a great taste in the mouth. After taste was a bit unpleasant.

Mouthfeel - crisp with a bit of smoothness.

Drinkability - Is this a bock? It was way watered down and the flavors that were present did compliment very well.

Based on notes from trip to TX

Pours a slightly hazed golden/bronze with 1 finger of white head. No head retention & not much lacing

S: A little sweet malt & some perfumy hops

T: Sweet bready malt & grainyness up front. As this warms, I pick up honey notes & some booze, finishes with grainyness, malt & booze

MF: Medium bodied with effervescence & some stickyness

Drink easy for the ABV, not a great Maibock, but a pretty good quaffer all things considered

This is from the older stock when it was 7.5%.

Pours a dark honey with a foamy, thin head. Head dispates quickly. Smells extremely sweet, grainy, and malty. Not terribly impressed. Pleasant malt and grain in the taste with hints of honey and, I think, white grapes. Mouthfeel is slightly dense from the alcohol and not overly carbonated. Drinkability is decent.

12 oz bottle into pilsner glass.

Crystal clear light gold color. One inch off white head which settles to a thin rim. Only a little lacing.

Bready malty scent with a little bit of honey like sweetness. Light alcohol scents.

Mostly malt flavors with some fruity/honey like sweetness. The alcohol can be tasted, but is hidden well considering its higher percent.

Light bodied with light carbonation, clean finish.

Not a bad beer but it has no special qualities. Slightly above middle of the pack, at best.

A: This pours a clear golden body with a thin white head that quickly fades.

S: Really not much there.... There is a bit of malt and some lager yeast. Other than that its very weak.

T: There is a strong amount of malt that lingers on the palate for a long while. Still not much there..

M: This isnt too bad and goes down pretty smooth. It leaves a full feeling in the mouth and has a bit of crispness on the back of the tongue and throat.

O: This is just an average beer. Really nothing I would crazy about and not worth the 9.50 I paid.

7.5%ABV bottle into my slender & top heavy Rare Vos glass. Might as well get some use out of it before it falls over itself & shatters.

Big powdery head, though quite faint & not big on sticking around. Body is a glittery caramel amber with lots of floaties.

Nose is big on juicy melon & bitter orange. Spicy/sweet pungent hop notes, with a little bit of honey & straw. Really inviting.

Taste is sweet with lemon, orange, & honey upfront. Light leafy bitterness down the middle, with an easy, dry cookie finish.

Feel is thin & plenty carbonated. The malt is just barely a touch filling. Maybe just a bit lighter then it should be. Endgame is dry & just barely lingering with alcohol & hops. Really eager to see if BigTex sent me two of these.

Though it has been in the fridge most of the time, sitting on this one far too long apparently worked out for me. :)
