I drank this from a tulip...

It is a light golden orange with a filmy white head that quickly faded. The clove smell is dominant with a background of orange peel wheat and banana. The taste again, has lots of clove yeast banana and wheat. The beer is kind of thick for the style with low carbonation and a dry finish. This is an impressive wheat beer coming from Rahr, very tasty.

This beer is the color of lemon-honey coughdrops and produces a modest but tenacious white head. Smells of light clove, banana, pepper, light phenols, and lemon very slightly as the beer warms. Very fragrant, reminiscent of wit. Taste is a simple citrus and wheat combo with the sharp edges blunted by very subtle yeast phenols. Watery mouthfeel is saved by amzingly fine and soft carbonation. Drinkability is high. One of the better american wheats I've had.

The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is wheat with a little bit of banana and clove. I can tell this is a hefeweizen, but the aromas are not very strong. The flavor is mainly wheat, with a little bit of pepper and banana. I don't really get any clove in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours cloudy yellow color, the only thing lacking is better head retention. Aroma consists of yeast, cloves and bread like aroma. The taste matches the aroma. I notice a slight bitterness in the finish. Medium body with plenty of carbonation. Drinkability is excellent, great beer for a hot summer day.

Clear golden color with floaties and miniscule head. (The floaties appear to be the only evidence that this clear brew is unfiltered.)

Faint banana with yeast and spice.

Tastes like a watered down Hefe-weizen.

Feels like drinking water... this is way too light, not one that I will be buying again.

12 oz bottle into my UFO glass. A two finger head bubbles up and sits upon a cloudy gold liquid. A nice touch of lacing here and there as I drink, with light carbonation visible.

Smell is lemony with a hint of banana. A faint astringency in there somewhere. Wheat malt sweetness underlying it all.

Taste is more lemon and wheat malt. Sour apple comes next with a light hop bite. Banana in the finishing notes with a bit more sourness. Light and clean with a drying astringency left on the palate.

Light mouthfeel and creamy carbonation makes for a nice experience.

Good drinkability. Easy to session.

Thanks to Stumac for this one. A good hefe. One to enjoy and be refreshed by.

A- Pale gold in color with notable white head, quite hazy, splotchy lacing.

S- Good mix of bubblegum and spice notes from the yeast. A slight dried grass/hay scent.

T- Light bubblegum into malt sweetness. Spice comes in mid-sip and persists. Light bubblegum and spice aftertaste.

M- Very creamy/smooth. Kind of watery in finish.

O- Good balance of 'hefe' flavors, both just subtle enough as to not overwhelm.

Pours out a cloudy tangerine color on the darker side of the spectrum for weissbier. Head isn't outstandingly huge, but has good retention. Crackery wheat aromas and banana and clove yeastiness mix well with a spicy rye background. The rye is a nice accent. Aromas are bold enough that I don't have to strain to hard to pick them apart. Flavors start off with fruit and grain which then leads into clove and rye. Finishes off with a twang and a slight sweetness. Light enough on the tongue, and it has a bit of a prickly sensation on the tongue. Highly drinkable.

12oz bottle into mug (Sorry, I didn't feel like pouring a 12oz bottle into a .5L weizen glass).

Cloudy pale orange with a one inch head with a upside-down hefe-pour. Medium retention of the head, which settles to a frothy cap. Sticky lacing.

Less of a banana-like fruity yeast smell, and more of a citrusy malt smell. Light creaminess, with a slightly musty overtone. Some clove like spices are present.

Bland citrusy tasts, which seem a bit astringent. Hints of spices like allspice or cinnimon. Twangy mix of light hops and malts in the in the finish.

Medium bodied, low carbonation. Mildly dry finish.

This isn't a bad beer, but something seems a little off about it. Maybe seemed a little bland with some harsher characteristics. However, this isn't one you should pass up. Good 12oz alternative to some of the larger Hefe-Weizens.

Poured from a 12oz bottle with no dating system into my weizen glass. It was a hazy golden color with tons of carb. It had a massive head that slowly settled into a constant 3/16" foam. The smell was standard hefe with cloves and medium overripe bananas but was kinda weak. The taste was also standard hefe but again sorta weak and watered down. Overall an above average beer but with so many great hefes out there this one won't see a regular spot in my rotation. (3.5, RB, T, O)

This beer was sent to me by my good buddy TTU94 from big D in Texas.

First of all, love the story behind the brewery. The beer however is not quite there if your talking true Bavarian Wheat Ale.

The color is spot on and got me a bit excited as I poured into my pint glass. The head was thin and dissipated rapidly with no lacing to speak of.

The smell had the Bavarian standard of banana and cloves, but was a bit on the light side.

The taste however is where I felt the beer has some room for improvement. The overall qualities of a Bavarian Wheat are present but they are all in minimal quantities. Comparing to other Bavarian Wheats, I would have to say that it is slightly below average.

Having said that, I still liked it enough that I could see myself in Dallas in a few weeks with TTU94 drinking a case or two.

Just so you don't think I'm bashing a Texas beer, I graduated from Tech. Go Big Red!

A - Gold, slightly hazy with a thin creamy head. Maybe I poured it wrong.

S - Banana aroma dominates.

T - Light and crisp. Starts off malty sweet, the banana flavors replace it.

M - Well carbonated.

D - This is a great Texas summer time beer. There's not much aftertaste, but still loads of flavor. Extremely drinkable. I just wish I didn't have to drive an hour and a half to buy it!

Appearance: Quite hazy light golden color, could be called muddy. The snow-white head is quite thin, with good broken lace, mild carbonation, and a considerable amount of sediment.

Aroma: Sweet, spicy clove aroma with notes of ripe bananas, and bread yeast.

Taste: Opens with a strong yeast note, pronounced wheat, and a mild earthiness, with a mildly sweet undercurrent. The hops yield a citrus rind note that contrasts well with the mild sweetness. The finish is mildly bitter, bringing the taste to a balanced close.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, and full.

Drinkability/notes: A very well-crafted Hefeweizen, the brewer's skill and attention to detail is clearly showcased in this fine effort.

Presentation: Packaged in a twelve ounce brown glass bottle with a twist-off crown, served in a standard pint tap glass.

A cloudy golden color with a thin head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. What more could you ask for in this style? The smell is lemongrass and oranges. A note of candi sugar tops it off perfectly. Its like those little elaborate hats that women wear to English weddings. Wow. The taste is just phenomenal! Warm malt, crisp citrus, and a whole lotta gimme some more of that. The mothfeel is creamy with a bit of tang at the end. None too shabby. This is definitely a beer I could have more of. Except the brewery just rang last call. Oh well, there's always next week!

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. No freshness date.

A: Hardly any head on the pour at all, even with a fairly rapid pour. Left minimal lacing on the glass. Looks more like a pale ale than a hefe weizen in the glass as far as color and clarity go.

S: Nice blend of wheat malt with a good amount of honey and banannas as well.

T & M: Great balance of wheat flavor combined with honey, banannas and just a hint of alcholol towards the middle to end of the sip that nicely rounds things out. The mouthfeel is fairly light, but certainly not watery. Obviously, since this is a summer brew, this is a good thing for the style.

D: A damn fine drinkable beer. I remember having this on tap back in the summer, and it tasted awesome! Actually, it's 60 degrees right now in Central Texas as I write this, and I just got finished working out. A great tasting thirst quenching brew that goes down easy yet is still complex enough to be interesting. Next summer, this will be (besides Sam Adams Summer Ale) one of my staple brews.

Note: As for the lack of head, I'm wondering if it's due to the beer being a little out of date.

We finally got the 2007 batch down here in Houston. I picked up a 2006 sixer a few weeks ago (unfortunately there is no born-on or drink-by date on their beers) and it was well past it's drink-by date.

Pours hazy yellow with a thick, white head that dissappates as it is drank. Nose is more typical of a German Hefeweizen rather than a typical American wheat. Tastes similar to Live Oak but not as much flavor, body and mouthfeel. Basically a Live Oak junior brother-but that's going up against some stiff competition. Very refreshing as an afternoon starter, especially with the temps hitting the mid-90's here. This will be in my fridge all summer.

My hometown brewery seems to be doing pretty well. I am a fan of the Bucking Bock. Now I'll give the Summertime Wheat a try.

Appears a pretty golden color. Cloudy oranges and yellows swirled together shine bright when held up to the natural light of the window. A white foamy head emerges after a vigorous pour but dissipates quickly into a thin film over the beer. The nose is light and fruity. Citrus, banana, apple, a hint of spice (maybe cinnamon, maybe clove) impart a pleasant feeling when you lift the glass to your nose. The taste doesn't quite deliver with the same gusto. Nice and wheaty, with some fruit and spices here too, but thinner than expected. A bit watery but with a tart and tangy aftertaste. Certainly not bad, but not great. Mouthfeel is, again, watery at times, but crisp and refreshing.

A totally quaffable summertime beer. I wouldn't hesitate to reach for this if I was headed to an outdoor barbeque or a day at the lake. Would go great with some grilled chicken or even a nice hot bratwurst.

The appearance is foggy but rich. It's a nice, dirty blonde.

The smell was so good I handed it over to my dad, who raised his eyebrows. There's something peculiar about the smell, despite it's greatness.

The taste is wonderful and full. It shoots straight into the air and then branches out, like upside down roots!

The mouthfeel is neither crisp nor soft, but it lacks nothing because the fizz keeps your mouth busy. Normally, fizz would be too much, but it has bread-like thickness that subdues the large bubbles. It's thick without being slimy.

I love Summer beers!

Yellow orange / really hazy / mild head

Really tart almost sour creamy sweet wheat undertones

So sweet and creamy / spicy and crisp / herbal spices and floral European-style hops / lemon or orange zest / finishes dry and powdery

Medium bodied / creamy smooth / very carbonated

Couldn’t easily image a better wheat beer. This is one of my all time favorite beers. It is really sweet and has the absolutely perfect balancing tart hops.

Pours a cloudy, golden/copper color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of wheat, yeast, sweet malt, coriander, hint of clove, and hint of hop. Fits the style of a Hefeweizen. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, wheat, slight yeast, slight coriander, and a hint of clove. Overall, decent appearance, aroma, and blend. The body is too sweet and yet, the spice is too strong.

Honestly my first experience with this was bad. A couple of days later I went in for another try. Same results.

The super-clovey smell, to me, is a huge turnoff. Appearance was fine, M and D were average, I just didn't like the smell and flavor. Almost has a home brew gone-bad kinda flavor. I really wanted to like this one because it is a local for me. Too bad.

Received this in trade from Texindy, thanks for the opportunity.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a smallish white head that dissipated quickly. Smells of spicy yeast and a bit of banana. Bready sweet malt in the background. Taste is as would be expected from a hefe. The spicy yeast esters dominate, throw in some faint lemon and banana. A bit watery body, sweet sticky mouthfeel. Not a bad brew, not great but I could down several of these on a hot summers day.

I'm not big on wheat beers, but this one is decent. It's all around moderate, but it is better than most wheat beers. Tastes the best when out by the pool or on the lake, when it's hot outside. But there are better beers out there and this one isn't memorable, at least for me it wasn't.

S - Banana,cloves, and wheat

M - Medium body with medium carbonation

D - I'd pass on this one, while not the worse hefeweizen I've ever had it is towards the bottom

A What a beautiful looking beer. Pours a hazy dark golden with a nice healthy head.

S First thing I smell is bananas, then cloves and lastly the wheat.

T Just like it smells. Bananas, cloves and wheat. Decent beer.

M Nice carbonation. Clean finish.

O Nothing special, but it's a nice refreshing summer beer.
