Had this on tap at Max's the other day.

The beer pours a hazy orange gold color, with decent head retention, if not much lacing. I really don't get much on the nose, though there is nothing off putting. On the palate this tastes more like an American wheat beer then a saison, IMO. However, there is a touch of orange and citrus tartness, and the beer is quite refreshing. I have to say the beer really seems pretty simple and one dimensional, though I suppose it would be a nice summer beer on a hot day. The beer list at Max's indicated a 9% abv., which shocked me, as I don't get that at all. 4.3% is much more in line with what I tasted, making this a very drinkable beer indeed.

A decent beer, but just not really my cup of tea I'm afraid.

I did not get much of a saison character. Tried at a tasting, but this was the first beer tried. Light and nice, but nothing special.

Had on tap at Max's.

A slightly hazy liquid, topped with a small, creamy white head. Very little lacing or legs.

Aroma was fairly mild, but you did pick up the typical Belgian earthiness I associate with saisons. Floral notes and citrus (lemon, maybe some orange) added to the scent. Overall, I would describe it as sweet.

In the taste, spice seems to hit you first. I believe I got clove, and maybe coriander out of it. Citrus is the second note, followed by a bit of sugary sweetness, but not much. The aroma is much sweeter than the taste.

A very light body, with relatively light carbonation. I found the beer to be very refreshing. The texture, despite the low perceived carbonation, was almost creamy.

Overall, they shoot, they score! A saison light? A session saison? Everything you look for in a saison, just dialed back a touch. Whatever it is, it is just what the doctor ordered on this relatively warm Baltimore afternoon. This was very good, and I hope it is around routinely.

A - A splendid golden apple juice colored ale with minimal head that provides plenty of lace.]

S - Melon, green apple, herbal aromas a'la sage and sweet golden apple scents w/ citrus. A general green apple rind and sweet pear scent is prominent in the aroma.

M - Crisp, bubbly, tannic, fruity and sweet

T - A nice light fruity, slightly vinous white grape and a mix of granny smith and golden delicious w/ light spice and wheat. A light grassy hop flavor is noticed in the finish

D - A highly quaffable ale fruity and semi-sweet. A decent saison with characteristics that make it worth a second taste

Pours a dark orangish brown. Almost a woody colour. Not much head. Smells lemon heavy with some nice floral yeasty belgiany goodness. Similar flavours on the tongue. Tastes sweet and lemony. Lemon is light but refreshing. Solid, drinkable, refreshing. An enjoyable brew for sure

On draught at their pub, served in a chalice, Saison Des Mysteres is a chill hazed dirty orange with a small, off-white collar that leaves no lace.

Nose is muted, light esters, a hint of lemon.

Taste is a bit more flavorful, lots of peppery esters, very clean but rather light overall.

Mouthfeel is very light, with a sharp crispness.

Drinkability is Good, it goes down like water, and is highly sessionable, especially at their happy hour prices. Authentic for the traditional style, this would be a good choice for working the fields, but I prefer more robust flavor.
